I came across this post while reading the "Heim Particle Theory" thread at
http://www.physforum.com/index.php?show ... 85&st=2610 about page 176. The actual article, published in the late 1970s, is linked below. It has very little to do with Heim Theory, but was an interesting - if somewhat long - read on its own. After reading the whole thing, I would say that this quote best summarizes the article.

" ... An intelligent look thrown to the rear is often the most powerful manner of reading in the darkness of the future. W. de Fonvielle"

Here are some quotes that brought forth a chuckle.

This one brought AGW to mind:
" ...the greed of vested interests, the intellectual prostitution of some members of the scientific community and the fraudulent practices of some segments of our business community ... "

An interesting observation -
"In the sub-micro world of quantum physics, perpetual motion as to spin and orbital motion is required. In the macro world, however, science is based upon exactly the opposite — perpetual motion is impossible. " John W. Ecklin

Max Planck's statement, "A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it."

"By his willingness to change his model or his concepts, the scientist is admitting that he makes no claim to possessing ultimate truth." - Dr. Wernher von Braun

"Hie deficit orbis" (Here the World Ends).

Here is the link to the actual article:

I would be very interested in anything posted regarding the Searl Engine.

Yes. It is always amazing how "science" is informed by commercial disputes.

We could start with James Hansen's coal bad natural gas good.

Or the nuclear industry: we can eliminate coal plants.

Or perhaps the coal industry: nuclear is too dangerous.

And per my link. Edison - DC good AC bad. (did you know Edison invented the electric chair? It used AC.)

Or that Margret Thatcher was once a big proponent of AGW in order to break the coal unions.

And of course the windturbine and solar folks are deep into coal bad green good - subsidize us.

And this is a real hoot:

Or you can look at the early personal computer wars: IBM called PCs toys. Until in 1981 (is that the exact year?) IBM introduced the their PC.
