A guy in UK was laid off. He claims that his is because of his beliefs in Manmade Global Warming.

"Essentially what the judgment says is that a belief in man-made climate change and the alleged resulting moral imperative is capable of being a philosophical belief and is therefore protected by the 2003 religion or belief regulations."

Well, I can't help but agree.
Belief in man made global warming is a religion and does need recognition and a treatment as one. The problem is with the law itself that allows you to practice your beliefs at work even if it harms the company.

Lets say I am a hard liner communist and strongly believe that all the "evil private industry" should be destroyed, then I get myself hired in the private enterprises to destroy them from within. Now if they want to fire me, they can't because my beliefs are protected.

Or, say I believe the 2% difference in genetic code between apes and man is negligible. There people like that, the Spanish leftist parliament already recognized the human rights of apes. Then I hire an ape as my subordinate to do all the accounting for my department. Firing me for that would be an act against my beliefs...

Laws like that are imposing ones believes upon people who couldn't care less. Seems like beginning of a new inquisition. How much further can we go with this nonsense...

To be science they have to account for conflicting data and explain the cause of past errors.

They don't admit error (on the central issue - is warming/cooling/just hanging around, man made?) just change their rationales.

Well keep in mind: we can play this game both ways: if idiot A insists your company power itself with wind and solar power to comply with his religious beliefs, you then declare your religious belief that global warming doesn't exist and that global warming adherents are the antichrist who must be expunged from earthly existence... you can also declare that recycling is taboo and can only be performed by the untouchables, and that therefore you cannot work with or come in contact with anybody who recycles. This makes your workplace an untouchable-free workplace in which management must determine in the hiring process if someone is an untouchable recycler.

Kooky third world religious beliefs can be wonderful things for engaging in headgames.

It doesn't matter what "most scientist" think, facts are what matters. People can have multitude of opinions but at most only one is true.

Einstein was once attacked by some with anti-Jewish leanings. When a pamphlet was published entitled 100 Authors Against Einstein, Einstein retorted:

I grew up in a country where "most scientist" believed in the "ultimate and unavoidable" triumph of "scientific socialism".
Times have changed, most of them worship global worming now.
I guess people are made to believe in something.

True, but it would be preferable if we could live and let others leave rather than retreat in the dark ages of the religious wars. Unfortunately this is not how it works. The piety and fanatism of the new religion runs really high and their jihad has already started. Check here:

This is hardly surprising given that the indoctrination pouring out of TV dwarfs even the communst propaganda I have experienced in the old days. And it is much more subtle.

Why haven't I thought about it? Instead of talking common sense, we should establish the CHURCH OF GLOBAL WARMING as MSimon suggested, then run commercials on TV thanking Obama administration for recognizing and enforcing it as the official religion.
Then, just sit tight and wait for the lawsuits...
