though with the external sensors working off the signals in the muscles, this doesn't help those with nerve damage. Still, for my power armor, it's fine.
If the BMI can be made safe enough, I wouldn't mind getting one, but getting a chip put in my head is a big step to take without a really really good reason. Putting it on peripheral nerves would help, but if I can do what I want with external systems, that's preferred.

People with amputated hands have been able to control the prosthesis by electrical signals generated on the skin for quite some time.

Interfacing with mechanical limbs is so passé! I'm more interested in the bits suggesting interfacing with computers and, thus also, the possibility of [hard-wire] interfacing directly with humans. I want to understand how the species thinks, because it is clearly beyond my direct understanding at the moment.
