Treason against our constitution and our country was done today by the US House of Representatives in passing the cap and trade bill. Particularly treasonous, was Rep Henry Waxman, who dropped a 300 page amendment on the bill at 3am in the morning and attempted to get it adopted without being read into the record or debated. Included in the amendment were:
a) forcing every community in the US to adopt California state building codes
b) forcing anybody who modifies their home or building in any way pay for an energy audit before and after to demonstrate how the modification saved energy
c) forcing all banks receiving TARP money to mandate homeowners bring their homes up to current California building codes before they are allowed to refinance or obtain an equity loan.
d) prohibiting landlords from increasing rents to pay for increased costs imposed by the bill.

Theres obviously a ton of other BS in 300 pages. More of it will come out in the coming days. It is left to the reader to decide what you are willing to do to reclaim your country from this communist coup d'etat.

There is still a chance to roll this back. The Senate will not consider the bill until the fall.

Today, it seems, the baton of the 'engine of the world economy' has been passed to the Chinese. Not only the raised cost of energy, but the strange and bewildering renewable provision is frightening.

"Requiring electric utilities to produce at least 12 percent of their power from renewable sources such wind and solar energy by 2020" (San Jose Mercury News)

In the minds eye of these people, windmills are always in a good breeze and spinning briskly; and solar panels, when conceived, are always in sunshine.

To meet this strange constraint for energy production, the stronger dynamic will be on the wrong side of the = sign; There will be a strange game of "non-production" to reach 12% of total production. Its easier to reach 12% of a static target. Growth will happen in China, not under the constraint. Won't they be surprised when it comes to pass that much of our energy conservation equipment is manufactured where Energy is cheaper?

There is a chance this can be derailed in the senate, if we can provoke enough fear of the people in time. Any congressman of character needs to publicly question the legality of a vote on a bill unread, even incomplete. And I agree with Intlibber, many provisions of this bill smell badly in violation of the constitution.

But I fear the democrat congress has an end game in mind where public discontent won't matter, the election will be rigged.

I wouldn't worry too much. It appears to have no chance in the Senate.

Moderate Dems are concerned about 2010 as it is. Voting for a gigantic energy tax in the middle of the worst economy in a generation on the basis of fairly flimsy evidence isn't in their interest.

How about, requiring that your house meet new standards before you are allowed to sell it.

How about saying that low income people will get direct deposit credits to offset the additional costs. Not only are they admitting that our bills are going to go up, but we have to pay for low income people's bills going up also.

This is somehow not an energy tax. Go figure.
