Jack Eddy was the guy who proved the existence of, and named, the Maunder Minimum. He died recently, and Dr. Leif Svalgaard is going to submit a petition to the American Astronomical Union next week to name the next grand solar minimum after Eddy.

That's a pretty good way to name it. I've seen worse methods used for naming things before.
