No, they are not, they are not, they are not.

Then you can, no doubt, point out what you regard as the obvious differences between them?

It's all too easy to focus on incidental differences and miss the common feature at the core of Fascism, Communism, National Socialism, and Socialism: A tyrannical central authority dominating the distribution and use of wealth "for the good of the people".

They also always end up with which those in government having the wealth, at least until deposed.

I am, hopefully, immune to flattery.
Diogenes wrote:I could recommend a number of books for you to read which would show that both the communists and the fascists are left wing, and the animosity between them was a case of sibling rivalry.

The Connection between the Nazional Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter Partei and the Communists is quite strong. The Reason the Official Nazi flag had a Red background was because they were originally made from Communist flags which subsequently had a Swastika sewn over the Hammer and Crescent.
We seem to agree on the basic topology (connectedness or siblinghood of Communism and Fascism), but disagree on the geometry, specifically the phase angles of the discernable parties. You place their interface on the "left" wing, I place it at the junction of the "left" and "right" wingtips. The 'right' wing is just better at concealing its 'leftiness', IMO.

In any event, the circle model is a low-order, 1-D approximation of something much more complicated. Mapping the political spectrum onto a sphere, ellipsoid or more complicated surface (possibly not 'simply connected', such as a 'torus' with one or more holes), or even a hypersurface, would be more appropriate.

But the circle model is a good first pass.

So, tending towards one point of the circle are people who believe they have a right to act as predators upon the rest of humanity, and diametrically opposed are those who take a more humane view of society. Hanelyp is correct.

The whole Communism/Fascism thing smacks of Reptiles seeking revenge for being superceded by Mammals. View that from a cosmic scale, instead of just one planet.

Would you put white supremacists on the right or the left side?
National Socialism has a lot of elements in common with white supremacism.
Basic differences:
Socialism: Based on class thinking and Lamarckism as well as misunderstood humanism, when they claim that "everyone is the same".
National Socialism based on misunderstood genetics (or the precursor to that) instead of classes and also inverting the idea that "everyone being the same". So National socialism really is in many ways an inverted socialism. There are some similarities, but they are on the surface.

And then there's the "reactionary sword-minded regime" version of that:
Execution awaits the Non-Aligned Summit
Same basic principle. Oppress the commoners to maintain the lifestyle of a small number of elite tyrants, in this case hiding behind a religion.
In some sense, the man-god worship directed towards Hitler, Stalin, etc. also qualifies as religion.

By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. You can try to pretty this up (It’s just about possible probation violations! Sure.), or make excuses or draw distinctions, but that’s what’s happened. It is a betrayal of his duties as President, and a disgrace.

Just for the fun of it the western world should cutoff all food exports to these radical muslim states in retaliation for attacking embassies and killing the staff right on the September 11 aniversary.

A moratorium of about a years duration should drive prices through the roof and have the local population at the throats of all these jokers that say 'Obama we are Osama.' It would do them some good to find out how it feels to be on the receiving end from an angry crowd.

I noticed Canada cut off diplomatic relations with Iran.

Why keep up a function that is non-functional?
The development of atomic power, though it could confer unimaginable blessings on mankind, is something that is dreaded by the owners of coal mines and oil wells. (Hazlitt)

Enlightened Marxist Harry Belafonte was on with pal Al Sharpton this week. His advice for Obama was to imprison opposition like a “third world dictator.”

Nice to see an informed cop for once in an online video supporting constitutional rights. There is hope. Give that guy a raise.

The TSA has also announced its intention to expand the VIPR program to include roadside inspections of commercial vehicles, setting up a network of internal checkpoints and rolling out security procedures already active in airports, bus terminals and subway stations to roads and highways across the United States.
An older version used to be known as the STA, as in GESTAPO.
