If RBC and CIBC are toast then its the biggest financial fraud in Canadian history, this would take down the federal government at a very minimum.

When this breaks it will take down a LOT of governments. People who have lost everything will want blood. I truly hope they get some.

I'm getting the story checked out by some people in the know. No Canadian Charter bank failed in the 30's, they're regulated against making reckless deals, and the guys running them aren't idiots. They get well paid to do their job, no point for them to get greedy.

The only logical conclusion I can draw if its true is that they actually want to wreck the financial system. They used to talk about not wanting unemployment in this country below 8% or wage inflation would kick in. Now with all the boomers set to retire, maybe they think putting the economy in the crapper is the only way to control people. Ruin their retirement plans and make them work until they die in the traces.
Canada has all the pieces in place for a major real estate meltdown as is, all it would take is one jolt to pop the bubble.

choff,

I had planned long ago to keep working until I drop. But my work is my hobby. And if I work I get other people to pay for it. A pretty good deal.
