Auto-rotation is done routinely with 60 series. It is a standard practice event. If you live near Mayport, FL you can watch the squadron there doing them all the time. That field comes to mind because it is easy to see from off base. It is intersting that you say Hueys are good at it. As I remember, the UH-1 and derivatives like the AB-212 have Jesus Nut concerns. I remember flying with the Italians once and them doing a wingover with the AB-212 and afterwards talking about how it was nice that the head stayed on. Of course these are the same guys that liked to fly at <10ft at 120kts. I must admit that dangling my feet out the door on those runs was fun. I guess if it had gone bad we never would have known.

In regards to Osprey and LCS. Weight.

See page 4. Also note that 53's are not an option either.

Corrected typo: "Jesus Nut" & added fogotten comment on 53 series helos.

I notices some reference to Corvettes, it would be interesting to see if the LCS could at least harass nuclear submarines and do convoy protection.

It does have an anti-submarine mission package module and according to the vid above, those packages can be swapped out in short order, routing all the new capabilities to the bridge.

LCS can and will hunt subs with the ASW package.

The limiting factor is the legs. If replenishment is provided for the mission area/assignment, this should not be a problem.

The ability to swap a Mission Package is a very complex problem. It is not as easy as saying, "park at pier, crane swings stuff". There is more to it.
Discussing this in further detail is not appropriate for me.
Let's leave it at, "Yes you can swap Mission Packages. And yes you can do it forward. Also, they are physically 'plug & play', but there is a non-physical aspect."
Until we get units down range and flex Mission Packages, the actual dynamics and time penalties are not well defined. They are best guesses.
