Re: Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun
Please don't feed the troll. The troll only posts crazy nonsense about hunting nameless people down with a rifle, because he wants the attention you're giving him.
Don't feed the troll. He is destroying this forum by posting many hundreds of sick, twisted provocations each week.
If you continue to take the bait, he will not leave. He feeds on your anger with his sick posts.
DON'T FEED THE TROLL. Ignore him, especially when he makes sicko posts about shooting people.

See, here's the problem:
Someone who doesn't believe in your super magic sky daddy is not a "troll."

We need a directorate of science, and we need it to be voted on only by scientists. You don't get to vote on reality. Get over it. Elected officials that deny the findings of the Science Directorate are subject to immediate impeachment for incompetence.

I wouldn't say anything except there was a kid who joked online about taking a gun to school and he got seriously arrested. The law doesn't always get the hypothetical thing, I know it's free speech and all but I wouldn't wish getting swatted at 3 am on anybody.

They can explain it to the court.choff wrote:I wouldn't say anything except there was a kid who joked online about taking a gun to school and he got seriously arrested. There are laws in the US.
Apparently you don't have them in Canada.
Guess that's why you screwed up the US healthcare websites.

What always amuses me is that the people who claim things like "Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun" get scared when the gun is pointed at them. And whine. And try to intimidate people by claiming they're threatening people with death.
It's as predictable as rich greedy psychopaths trying to take over the economy.

I doubt the troll was joking. Sounded like a serous threat to me. However, he did not make his homicidal threat against a specific person--just vented his hatred for a class of people--and he said his homicidal interests would only be fulfilled if __________. So the threat is contingent. Unless it were made against a public figure the FBI would not act on it. They would however, note this is a homicidal person and keep tabs on him.choff wrote:I wouldn't say anything except there was a kid who joked online about taking a gun to school and he got seriously arrested. NSA has search filters of all public blogs and have already sorted the troll into the appropriate category as one to watch since he's psycho, and I'm sure he's been on their list for a long time.

I was raise and taught about weapons. Later in my life I spent time in our armed forces. One thing that was grilled into my brain was it is a weapon, its sole purpose it to take life.
One never jokes /hypothesizes /make light of / or threatens its use lightly. You would be well advised to have the same protocol with your discussion about the use of a weapon. Someone might take you seriously. It would not be a good day if someone removed your primary defensive device over a jest or joke.

I am not a nuclear physicist, but play one on the internet.

Indeed, there are some matters that it is never in good taste or advisable to joke about. Use of deadly force is at the top of the list.paperburn1 wrote:I was raise and taught about weapons. The daylight is uncomfortably bright for eyes so long in the dark.

I've drilled into my son's head that any firearm is a tool - designed to take a small chunk of metal and accelerate it with an explosive charge. It has no brain, no thought process, no feelings no concept of 'good' or 'evil', and it doesn't care what it's pointed at when the trigger is pulled. As such, the USER is responsible for what's done with it.paperburn1 wrote:I was raise and taught about weapons. Later in my life I spent time in our armed forces. Oddly, at 5 I think he understood more about firearms than most liberal adults - and at 16 he's a better shot than I am. Liberals only seem to have a concept of 'guns are evil' - but no idea as to why beyond 'they kill people'. The human element doesn't seem to come into the equation - neither does the idea that someone can own a gun and use it in a law-abiding manner.
When opinion and reality conflict - guess which one is going to win in the long run.

My primary defense device is an alarm and a panic button that sets it off. It's not just local, it calls the cops (or the fire department if it's the smoke alarm).paperburn1 wrote:I was raise and taught about weapons. Later in my life I spent time in our armed forces. Your assumption that a gun is the first thing to use is exactly what's wrong with you.

I wasn't joking. If my wife dies and I decide someone's at fault, count on it, I'm gonna do something about it.hanelyp wrote:Indeed, there are some matters that it is never in good taste or advisable to joke about. I don't think any of you are married. You don't seem to give a crap about your wives.

I bet I can shoot skeet better than you- and with six months practice I could shoot a .40 and a rifle better, too. I'm not good enough for the Olympics but I tried out.JLawson wrote:I've drilled into my son's head that any firearm is a tool - designed to take a small chunk of metal and accelerate it with an explosive charge. Re: Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun
I think the reason libs think guns are evil has a lot to do with the second part of Mao's quote and the consequences thereof, that being; "then we must make sure the party has all the guns." The ibs don't want people to a have guns because they don't want people to be able to resist.JLawson wrote:I've drilled into my son's head that any firearm is a tool - designed to take a small chunk of metal and accelerate it with an explosive charge.
