Yes, it's already doing damage in Colorado and Texas. Much worrying on this score.
The "conservative" right is destroying economic conservatism with its insistence on religious conservatism. The yout is going liberal on social issues.

Re: Red State,

I did a search as I usually do of “Conservative” sites using the search term “Colorado marijuana” to see how they covered the election results in November.

http://www.redstate.com/2012/11/28/gov- ... alization/

Now look at their take on what it will mean for Republicans/Democrats:

The basic quandary here is that John Hickenlooper doesn’t want to be The Guy Who Legalized Pot In America. The man undoubtedly has (probably foolish) hopes for higher office**, and pot legalization will pretty much kill that. The Democrats have a lot invested in one-upping the Republicans in the War On Some Drugs, mostly because it helps inoculate them from being considered liberal (i.e., ‘soft’) on crime. This goes all the way from the top, down: it’s no secret that the Obama administration HATES the idea of legalizing pot. Or, more accurately, that it hates the idea of THEM legalizing pot, or any other Democratic administration actually doing that. The federal government is certainly showing no sign of relaxing its stance on the issue, at any rate.

So, what does an ambitious Democratic governor do when dealing with a situation where The People Have Spoken, The [Expletive Deleted]? That’s right: he obfuscates. Setting up a ‘task force’ over pot legalization that’s been stacked with groups that can be relied upon to bitterly resent pot legalization is an excellent first step to delaying any kind of implementation whatsoever.
================================

The landscape is changing and the fools on the right have less of a clue than the idiots at the top on the left.

The Right is losing 5,000 old old farts a day from death. The left the same. The kids left and right are liberal on social issues. Gays, abortion, pot, the whole schmeer. The old farts are the only cohort not on board with legalization. What does this tell you? It is just a matter of time. Ten years at most with 3.5 million every two years.

The right is going to wake up one day and “overnight” everything will have changed.

Especially given:

Medical Marijuana prohibition is a crime against humanity and a violation of the religious precept – heal the sick.

The right has no defense against that – especially given the science.

There are degrees of going Galt. One need not disappear completely. One need only cut back. Some cut back a lot. Some a little. I have been in a Galt state for going on 13 years. In fact I'm coming out of it a little to raise cash for survival and to deal with what is coming.

As to credentialism. I'm proud to say I am a non-degreed aerospace engineer. Although my kids all wanted that degree. It is/has/will cost them.

Wickard vs Filburn remains the law of the land 71 years after it was issued.
Funny enough - the most recent chance to strike it down was a medical pot case. Raich. Conservatives CHEERED when Raich lost. The case was argued in the court by libertarian Bernstein. Another reason for the right to cheer.

The "conservatives" would rather lose the country than lose on their favorite social issues. Which is why the country is in such dire shape.

We are in fact getting the government we deserve.
