Why HUman Powered Technolgy Doesn't Work

Post by Jccarlton »

You don't appreciate something until it isn't there. Why the poor are that way.:

The true cost of human energy vs abundant electricity is essentially slave labor. Cheap electricity is the only thing that separates us from this. Yet Porgressives insist on essentially unworkable schemes like "renewable energy" and "appropriate technology" that could only really work in their Malthusian fantasies. Work smarter, not harder.

As the self-ordained smartest beings on the planet, they'd rather see their ideas fail catastrophically and kill millions than admit they don't know what to do and haven't any real idea on how to make things better.

They haven't any clue what it took to get us to this point - to them, it all just 'happened' randomly. They see electrical plants as evil things belching pollutants - they don't connect them with the quality of life they now enjoy. They see oil companies as evil corporations, yet have no problems at all using their products to enhance their own comfort.

But they know how people are supposed to live - and would control you whether you agree or not.
When opinion and reality conflict - guess which one is going to win in the long run.

For True Believer Malthusians, the death of millions is a feature.

Not all of them think that way. I mean I am not a progressive or particularly left, but some here may consider me that (it is always relative to your own POV after all). Anyway, the main reason why I am here is because I know and understand that the key to unlimited growth of wealth is unlimited cheap energy (almost free). I want mankind to grow and expand (to other worlds too) and we need lots and lots of energy for that.

I have to agree, for person kind to expand or grow to its next level we need more energy. Most civilizations of old collapsed in part because they used up their available energy. IMHO

Water actually. Which can be directly linked to food shortages. It's energy, but in a form we don't usually think of it.

Of course with enough energy we can desalinate infinite amounts of water and move it anywhere in the world.
