Fiscal and Social are two halves of the same coin.

Might as well try separating water from wet.

Responsibility does not end at being able to total a balance sheet. The characteristics that make someone understand the need to balance a book are likewise necessary to every aspect of life.

Adam Smith pioneered Economic theory. His good friend Edmund Burke Pioneered Social theory. There was no dividing line between the disciplines.

You cannot have a sound Fiscal Society without having a sound Moral Society. Without them both, you will have a dysfunctional society.

What good does it do to balance a book if a thief has made off with the cash?

Totally agree Fiscal and Moral Socialism are two halves of the same coin. Been saying it for years.

Didn't refer to socialism. Refered to Society, but you are right. Abortion, Homosexuality, Drugs, Disease, Fatherless children, and Welfare Slavery are the flip side of the Socialist economics of spending a society into bankruptcy by bribing the stupid and corrupt with the money of the productive.

In Social morality terms this is known as "thievery."

Ever wonder why the moral socialists (Republicans) never roll back the work of the economic socialists (Democrats)?

Because it would impede their attempts to impose their views on the polity.

Politically it is a loser:

Every time the Republicans get heavy handed on their view of moral issues they lose elections. You would think they would stop being stupid. Nope. The way to bet is that they will get stupider.

BTW the next generation doesn't give a fig about homos and dope. Why? They are becoming more libertarian. The central philosophy being "mind your own business". Keep your eye on the following States come November 6. Colorado, Washington, Oregon. What you want to watch carefully for is this: is Mitt less popular than dope?

As to disease. It becomes less dangerous every day. The morality changes with respect to all that because conditions change.

The Republican Party of 1900 was what we would call today a libertarian party. How did we get where we are? The progressives infected both parties. The Democrats then became the economic progressives and the Republicans the moral progressives.

The Republicans are slowly (not fast enough for my tastes) returning to their roots. The end of drug prohibition will accelerate that. If the Democrats don't totally steal the issue and ride into office on it in 2016. See my point about Republican stupidity above. And remember the election of 1932. And how prohibition played a part.

BTW you are in the minority re: drug prohibition. I've seen national numbers as high as 59% against. Is the minority always wrong? No. But it is the way to bet. The numbers re: homos are trending against you as well. It is the usual. Familiarity breeds indifference.
