Of course the war with Mexico may be at the behest of domestic growers who dislike the competition.
You also ought to look into the California scene re: pot legalization. One of the places where the anti-legalization forces were strongest was in the Emerald Triangle of California where much pot is grown. Why? Well a legal regime would destroy their profits and thus property values would take a hit. This was openly discussed in the local papers. So they voted their self interest. Against Prop. 19.
I'm already seeing reports of increased profits from the recent crackdown on "dispensaries". Growers no longer have to deal with out of state buyers to get the profit level they want.
Which means D that objectively you are on the side of the cartels. Today that makes you one of the "good guys". But I wouldn't expect that to last indefinitely.

A straw man tactic. One need not admire or promote an evil regime to recognize that a certain tactic "works."KitemanSA wrote:Pa-lease!
Anyone that extolls the "virtues" of the Maoist regime is not a conservative nor is he a "good guy". He is an evil authoritarian thru and thru.
As with other debates on the death penalty, when pointed out that places such as Saudi Arabia have a very low crime rate, the first thing weak opponents argue is that I am advocating that we have a society like that of the Saudis, to which I reply, Saudi Society is beside the point. The Fact is, the Death penalty works.
Kill the drug dealers, and we will make (most) drug smuggling go away. The reason it is persistent is because we refuse to take decisive action.

As I said, not "conservative" and not a "nice guy".
And if the "cartels" were Soviet espionage agents provocateur, what would your response then be?
Hurry up and surrender because we can't get the big guys pulling the strings?

Can you say "strawman"?
There is no correlation between the two.
The cartels employ the services of "useful idiots" to arrange for monopoly control over something we (in large part) DO want and is not immoral.
The soviet provocateurs used the services of "useful idiots" to attempt to assure control by overlords to do things we DON'T want which IS immoral.
You are more like the soviet provocateur. Your goal is immoral. Since you knowingly promote it, this makes you evil, or extremely "idiot"ic.
