Questions:

1) How "elementary" are the particles we're talking about? Atoms? Subatomic particles? "Quarks?" A combination?

2) Where and how are these particles gathered? In a particle accelerator? As a dense or diffuse gas in a container? As a plasma?

So you want to separate and sort the subatomic particles in the free space surrounding a spacecraft?

I've seen schemes for shielding from those particles, even using them to charge battery systems, but not sorting them... unless we're talking about scifi industrial systems such as antimatter refineries, DWIZs, etc.
