Keith Laumer was one of my favorite authors. I especially like his insight into governmental bureaucracy.ladajo wrote:I think some of the early Bolo stories would make excellent movies.
Aloise Hammer would also make for an interesting movie run.

I was just thinking about Heinlein, and I remember liking Friday, but it has been so long since I read it. Kind of campy, like the Stainless Steel Rat.
Laumer and Saberhagen have always been on my short list. I guess I have a thing for AI running amok. But Drake is on that list as well, and he is all about blowing stuff up, and on that note, I love Weber's Harrington books. The space battle tactics are fantastically done.
I am trying to get my daughter to start reading Pern, but she has yet to find one. Maybe on Inter-Library loan.

I've never read anything by Weber Harrington. (that I recall) If he is on the scale of Laumer or Saberhagen (Ever read any of the books of swords?) then I will have to give him a try. Harry Harrison's "Bill the Galactic Hero" (Also lending insight into Governmental Bureaucracy) ought to be required reading in High School, just as "Animal Farm" should be. David Drake is pretty good. I recall reading "Ranks of Bronze" and "Hammer's Slammers", and I liked both of them.ladajo wrote:I was just thinking about Heinlein, and I remember liking Friday, but it has been so long since I read it. I hear Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game" is now required reading for officer training or some such.
So many good authors and so little time.
