Established science believes the polywell is a dead end.

I don't believe that's the case. I think established science (with exceptions) just doesn't care.

Yeah, that's fair. Rider's paper, and then those when asked, either don't know anything, or make failure assumptions based on Rider's work without looking any deeper. I would tend to agree, not enough interest to see about it. I recall several time where comments by "smart folk" saying it won't work were based on completely uninformed ideas of how it works. Sad.
