If people had the same common knowledge about the 4th state of matter as people do about the other 3 we'd have productive fusion by now. It is simply a fact that mankind has only been looking at plasma (and understanding it as such) for only about 120 years. 6000 years of civilization experience... but only a fraction of a percent of it knowing about the 4th state of matter.

Then I think what we need is an easy to use plasma simulator for either CUDA or OpenCL compatible GPUs. Something simple enough for kids to play with. Reactors are extremely difficult to make and finance but anyone can play with a computer program. Desktop graphics power is 50,000 times faster than it was 15 years ago....

The use, if not understanding of plasma has been around as long as fire. As for simulators, Net Logo is designed for developing science simulations.
The Powder Toy is an interesting "toy" that allows for observing many physical interactions. It has a unusual interface, but once you become familiar with it it becomes a useful "what if?" tool.

That is super cool software. Yes! Something like this or may this will work too.. Too bad its only 2D.. though I understand why they did it this way (easier to use). This is really top notch stuff. Thanks Dan!

Terrific fun, easy to use, and extensible. I may have found a new favorite!
