ICF contenders

The article The commercial drive for laser fusion power by David Kramer in Physics Today discusses laser fusion and a few recent ICF contenders: https://physicstoday.scitation.org/do/1 ... 020a/full/. The significant hurdles of laser fusion are well known, so it is a bit surprising that so much funding has been granted in a rather short time.

Of course the recent result from NIF will inspire this line of approach to fusion and have some influence on the funding. NIF will try to reproduce the good performance shot and also to further improve on it. So there will be interesting results in the near future from NIF.
