Short on specifics, claims that the device could revolutionize energy generation and storage. The inventor, Dr. Randy Curry is associated with the University of Missouri.

Interesting, and it would be nice if someone could finally explain ball lightning. I don't see any applications though. There was some talk about using a scheme like this to stabilize the plasmas in tokamaks back 30 years ago but I don't think they came to anything.

I immediately thought of EPS when I saw the thread title. Man the site looks like it hasn't change in almost a decade...

If this pans out, the guy may have inadvertently invented the phaser. That'd be cool. And terrifying.

It's a Romulan Weapon with limited range. The key is to back directly away to build dramatic tension until it finally contacts your ship and does minimal damage. Backing off on an angle so it misses you completely is cheating.

Also, the damage produced by it is inversely proportional to the number of shots fired (or, possibly, the number of Romulan vessels doing the firing). The more shots fired (or the more vessels doing the firing), the less damage it does, even when fired at point-blank range. (Point-blank range is here defined as the range at which self-destruction of the target vessel with a hypothetical corbomite device would do serious damage to the surrounding Romulan vessels.)

well, in 1994 I was already using a gun that shot self contained plasma shots...
