fusion from porn

The late Bob Guccione – founder of Penthouse magazine – harboured a passion undeclared to the masturbating masses. Not only was he one of the world's leading pornographers, he was also probably (and improbably) its biggest private investor in fusion technology. Guccione, who died last week, was fascinated by an interview with scientist Robert Bussard in one of his titles and funded Bussard's nuclear energy firm to the tune of $17m (£10.7m) between 1980 and 1984. Fusion and porn... Did they play "Come Together" at the funeral?

A living example of a man who while he may have been laying in the gutter, was staring up at the stars!

Although we feel morally obliged to imagine him to be laying in the gutter, the truth is that this man has spend his live building the gutter where WE as consumer like to occasionally lie in.
And we paid him plenty of money for it too.
I like to think that this man has harnessed one of our primal urges and converted into money, and again into progress.

A freely flowing gutter has its charms. I have even been known to drink from such streams from time to time.
And I have to acknowledge that if it weren't for the gutter I would be childless.

Penthouse was fairly high-brow compared to what passes for porn today.

That sounds like a story your better half would strangle you for telling.
So TELL!

And frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that. Don't forget that the adult entertainment industry is huge (especially on the internet), and using such an industry as seed money for more sensible technologies would IMO just be a good idea.
Sure, not everybody will
like it, but it's a perfectly legal business and one that gets an enormous gross yearly. So what's the wrong here?

There is another way porn and fusion may relate to each other. A society that has free sexuality with pretty clean women that remain attractive for a long time is necessarily a technologically advanced society that uses lots of energy. Women (and men) did not remain attractive for long in pre-industrial times. Bob Gucionni was just doing his part to help maintain our technological civilization.

My better half doesn't mind my occasional allusion to some of our experiences. She goes ballistic if I give even the slightest detail. So all I can say is: use your imagination.
