Does anyone want to start a poll guessing when we will see any information from ladajo's efforts? I would but there are several polls that we could take. Which poll would you like to see? This poll runs for 3 days.
Time of receipt, days early or late

FOIA Question - Start a Poll?
I think the time of receipt one is moot. Now the whole what will we get part...and is FOIA really usefull bit, that could be fun.
I would hate to think my efforts have been in vain.
either way it promises to be interesting. The whole "GAAHHHH!" they haven't released anything and whyfor-howcome gambit. very cool potential for flaming in that chain. Or, the OMG, did you see what that said thing (pos or neg...).
Probably the biggest reason I did it, better to do something for the cause than just cheer. And, just as importantly, I have gotten to watch all the drama associated with...

I know its close to getting exciting, and that shooting down government in general is fun - but there are real people somewhere working on this, and any speculation risks poking them in the eye. For the moment, lets just hold our breath, and assume they are working on it in good faith. Similarly, the tone of our response to what is released could prejudice later FOIA requests.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.
The ultimate point I see here is that Rick and Co. are required by contract clause to ask permission to make any releases. Also, given the political nature of the arena they are working in, it would seem that the better course is to keep a lower profile and work the project.
However, that said, I am a firm believer in the idea of true open science and collaboration. In that vein, it is one of the reasons I really like "talk-polywell". You have a total mix of players here, able to contribute and/or consider a wide spectrum of points of view to the project. I have found in the past that the guy in the corner sitting queitly out of his element, occasinally comes up with a solution gem because he is looking through completely different colored glasses at the issue.
If we use FOIA as a means of getting permission for access to info, and Rick tells the governement he is ok with the release, then that allows up to possibly assist in the guaranteed exstensive analysis that will follow by the players here at talk-polywell. It also saves him some work, by us exploring ways ahead, while he is working the here and now. As demonstrated by his previous references to some of the design concepts discussed here.
If Rick does not want things released, he is getting his chance to say so this past week. The government will let us know what was said/decided by the 18th.
The associated potential discussions after that will take their own path. A given the general mature nature of the posters here, I am not so worried that we will offend Rick and team. In fact, their is generally two main themes that have run on this board for several years. 1). If we had hard data we could provide hard insight. 2). Putting down Rick and the team is not tolerated long when it starts to occur, and is traditionally related to item when when it has occured.
We are all curious by nature, and if not, more than likely we would not be here on this board. We also want to help, misguided or not.

OK - Now lets grade the poll -
In general, nobody passed.
100% on time,
100% redacted, or not even released.
0 to 1 useful fact.
100% discouragement.
General utility of FOIA unknown, insufficient data.
Other -
-They threw us a bone with the website update.
-EMC2 is concerned about competition. Famulous could be very stiff competition if he had just a little information.
