That is an interesting paper, looks like Tri-Alpha has built a duplicate of the Helion device, pretty far removed from their published patents..

In that NBF link they discus direct energy recovery through back emf in coil windings, something made theoretically possible by the pulsed operation.

They had an older design where a single FRC was compressed and then expanded and cooled in a very elegant direct energy conversion scheme, I guess they needed to go to the 2 opposing FRCs and had to abandon that design. Interesting that they are not including extra compression technology a la Genera...
