Re: Sell The Whitehouse to Trump
With the help of selected tweets from Deepak Chopra’s Twitter account, researchers from the University of Waterloo and Sheridan College identified certain traits that made people more susceptible to B.S. They included religious or paranormal beliefs, an embrace of alternative medicine, an interest ...

Re: Stuff I figured out years ago.
I do believe that you can have a solid moral foundation without a Big Daddy punisher in the sky, but I don't think that's something worth discussing in this forum again. I cannot grasp such a concept. If you leave out spirituality of some sort, then the whole universe is just a bunch of nuts and bo...

Re: Stuff I figured out years ago.
Why are there so many atheists and part-time believers? You can check the stats with Barna if you like, but I don't think Atheism has wavered much in it's popularity. It generally runs about 10% and is as popular as drug addition, homosexuality and several other forms of social deviance. The differ...

I do believe that you can have a solid moral foundation without a Big Daddy punisher in the sky, but I don't think that's something worth discussing in this forum again. There's another area of this argument that doesn't seem to get as much attention, though. The "if you take away" part. I don't thi...

Re: The essence of Conservatism: Remembering lessons.
This is a good list. Though maybe not quite deserving of its tone of certainty, particularly for the more recent points. Societies are complex systems and it takes many samples and deep analysis to formulate a good rule. However, the word "conservatism" brings a different story to my mind. Maybe tha...

Re: Evil? Now, perhaps. Later? Not so much.
Nah dude, Mental illness is definitely implied in someone who thinks they need to switch genders. There is some sort of deep seated psychological problem going on in such people's minds. Even if I accept the premise of a mental disorder, that does not imply an inability to work in a specific field ...

That's a possibility, as with everyone else. It's not implied in being transgender, though.Diogenes wrote:Or that they might have a serious psychological disorder while having access to a lot of people and things that go boom.

I wonder what you're afraid of. That soldiers might be ugly? That they might be wearing the "wrong" clothes?Diogenes wrote: Sure. Nothing wrong with that bunch.

Re: Latest drug addict loons.
Fair enough, but there is an established direct correllation for "tried" to "addiction". These percentages are well studied, an show a positive relationship. More "tries" equals more "addicts". I don't doubt there's a correlation, but there are other factors in play, too, so unless you guarantee "a...

Quite revealing language, turning "have tried" into "using drugs".
I'm not convinced of the practical relevance of "have tried" figures. Drug abuse is an issue. Having tried drugs, not so much. They're not the same thing at all.

I know that you do, but I argue that you have not accurately considered what the grass would look like on the other side of the fence. You have a utopian dream idea of what will happen, and you aren't interested in looking at what actually did happen in real life. Of course you argue that, but I ha...

More so than does your side. To hear your side tell it, paradise merely awaits the legalization of all narcotics. We acknowledge the abuses committed in the War on Drugs, but does your side acknowledge the absolute horrors that await a Chinese style legalization? In a word, no. You simply believe t...
