Re: EMC2 news
reducing from 12 cents to 8 cents is 33% reduction; I thought it would be more. Like to 5 cents per kWh, or are a lot of cost due to grid problems?

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change
Do CO2 not have any other polluting effects? What about the other stuff that is released by combustible fuel? Keep in mind, the same people that denies AGW are the same people that think our general pollution is okay and EPA is over stepping (Even if EPA is overstepping and hindering CAPTAINS OF IND...

Re: Bill Gates is heading a $1 billion venture fund to combat climate change
This thread is so gross. 1. Using combustible fuel causes pollution we can literally see with our eyes. Even if AGW is just a pile of shit, we still need to get away from combustible fuel. Do you really think smog, acid rain, etc are not as dangerous as our planets warming and causing huge environme...

Re: China's nuclear fusion machine just smashed Germany's hydrogen plasma record
This isn't even close to being a fair comparison. One's a Tok and the other is a Stellarator. I don't know what the target temperature and target confinement time is supposed to be on the top of my head. But I kinda don't think the W7-X was meant to show it can hit those targets. I thought it was ju...

Re: Wendelstein 7-X
that's unfortunate, your loss tho. What I meant to say is, I covered the points, but you didn't get them. But that's not correct either, I think you just didn't attempt to learn the points I made. Happens a lot on the internet, complete arguments are cheer picked apart, while the rest never goes thr...

Re: Wendelstein 7-X
we should move this to another platform, like phone or skype. PM if you would like to continue the conversation, although, there's not much more we can talk about that I havent already covered.

Re: Wendelstein 7-X
You guys.... I knew most of that already. I'm really confused what the confusion is. Giorgio, we should continue this conversation on another platform like phone or something. I literally explained everything as clearly as I could. I don't think you understand what I was talking about. But seriously...

Re: Wendelstein 7-X
yo, I'm just saying, but you have to calm down. I have no points to argue, because these arent my points, they're 2 decades of research other people have done with regards to Stellarators and Tokamaks, dont look for fights where there isnt one. But let me say a few things. 1. "The absence of a net p...

Re: Wendelstein 7-X
So a lot of folks in this thread thinks that the tokamakness and stellaratorness are mutually exclusive. This is not true, you can build a hybrid machine to take advantage of all the advantages of tokamaks and stellarators, at the same time. In fact, it's very useful to build such a hybrid machine, ...

Re: Musk's Powerwall
A few things to point out. - Did this guy solve the battery problem or did he just get the best current technology and make it look pretty? - There was another guy on TED a few years ago doing like some sort of chemical metalization method for batteries, which would allow for industrial level energy...

Re: Stellarator presentation at PPPL
stellarators have literally always been better than toks in principle. There was the dark ages when they couldnt machine the vacuum vessel properly; there was the time when everyone bitched about how making stellarators were hard to do; etc. Every advantage toks have can be implemented into stellara...
