Last year the USN seemed very interested in rail-guns. Not so much this year.
Further, the rail-gun projectiles are being adapted to chemical propellant guns. Why the loss of interest in rail-guns? Anyone?
Thanks.

Re: EMC2 news
Solo, I thought relativistic energies would be too much of a good thing for polywell electron injection, but when I think "polywell electrons" and add "relativistic," I next think about the air-propellant cruiser/SSTO Dr. Bussard envisioned years ago. The operative phrase there is "relativistic elec...

You're welcome. When I was writing about the additive manufacturing exhibit I thought about your scientist son. He will have some competition.
As soon as I remember/figure out how to post the pictures natively here, I will correct my previous post. It's been a while since I posted a picture.

I had the very great privilege to vacation in Shanghai China while my wife was working (1) in a nearby free-trade zone. I won't bore you with all of my doings while I was there (2), but I did see some salient happenings and form some impressions which might be useful. One funny thing happened after ...

Just so much time in a day. Just so, indeed. The answer to the rhetorical question: No Russian wants to spend more money on Proton (well maybe the people who build it...). V. Putin certainly does not want to spend more money on the Old and Busted when New Hotness is already a cheeping mouth demandi...

Re: Proton failure diagnosed as a design flaw
Is not Angara intended as the Proton's replacement? "Angara will primarily be launched from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome. Beginning in 2021, plans call for it to also be launched from the Vostochny Cosmodrome under construction in Eastern Russia.[29] This would allow the phase out of Proton, a rocket who...
