If you were just after looks, given the relatively small dimensions of the models, you could use an ordinary light bulb plasma ball. http://www.organizeit.com/plasma-night-light.asp?cmpid=gbase There are also usb ones (though they look kind of lame). http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/964e/

I was thinking the same thing, but not only for the imaging spin off. It seems like their reactor design might benefit from being able to direct the x-rays being emitted to their golden onion.

That was the point, considering the twitter account was satirical.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but would it be possible to recover losses from Bremsstrahlung radiation using sheets of these synthetic (presumably cvd) diamonds? I'm thinking of something like the device being enclosed in a box (maybe the vacuum chamber?) the inside surface of which is covered in...

unfortunately no such mod/hack currently exists for bbForums, that i can find. there is however an 'ignore thread' hack - http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=2104240 There's a greasemonkey script for firefox that can block an individual user's posts, although it's global rather than...

chrismb, Where is it free to file a patent? In the US there are a number of fees right from the start. It appears for the EU, too, based on that link below. http://www.uspto.gov/web/offices/ac/qs/ope/fee2009september15.htm#patapp http://documents.epo.org/projects/babylon/eponet.nsf/0/E1E64D914A411AB...

Why hold on to this crazy notion that everyone inside US loves the US and wants it to succeed, and everyone outside hates it and wants it to fail? Or maybe it is a cultural thing... like; Americans all understand each other, whereas no-one outside can relate to the cultural problems of America. I d...

For me there are two issues. First, I want the same standard applied to Obama as was applied to McCain. In early 2008, there were tons of articles discussing McCain's eligibility, and they were't considered crazy or fringe or tin-foil-hat types. The Senate even passed a resolution signing off on the...
