Just out of curiosity, how large would the MaGrid have to be, assuming superconducting magnets, in order to fuse air without needing a vacuum? I'm thinking a giant tower of a machine like something Telsa would have built, or like the alien machine they build in the movie Contact. http://i.imgur.com/...

I was under the impression that even without the tokamak addition, the plasma flow of the polywell already followed the clover leaf pattern. The tokamak addition simply forces the recirculating ions to concentrate into beams before reentering the main chamber. The tokamak portion would be a continuo...

"Polymak" - Polywell - Tokamak hybrid
Here is an idea I had while thinking about the Polywell system (please forgive my rough paint.net skills): http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww3/zenakuten/polywell/polymak1.png It's the same basic design, except the green lines in the drawing represent a container system that completely encloses th...

If the money supply doesn't increase with the actual wealth of society, then people will spend less money since it will be worth more tomorrow than it will be today. Nobody will give out loans unless they get a better return than just holding onto the money. If the savings rate is too high, the end ...

I think you are right about string theory explaining it. I will check out the Reference frame blog. This always seems to happen to me. Just when I think I've thought of something new, I find it's been thoroughly debated and mathematically proven/dis-proven hundreds of years ago. Yesterday I w...

I've never really understood particle spin. Everything I read seems to be ambiguous. Macroscopic evidence of particle spin can be seen in the Einstein-de Hass effect , which is quite cool. Particles with spin have angular momentum, yet particles are dimensionless according to QM, which is a paradox....

You've conjured up some ideas, but just because you can imagine them, it doesn't make it right or possible. I think there are many such ideas on gravity. Here's mine: In my humble analysis; gravity is often mistaken for a force that has mediating particles (thus the 'confusion' over the Higgs boson...

Actually I think that's what I said :) The RF has to be applied in addition to the MaGrid electrostatic field. Without the electrostatic field the potential well would be weak. I did more research on the POPS effect and this seems to be the right idea, but it needs more RF frequencies set at frequen...

:) I'm all for fusion. I'm just trying to play devil's advocate here ;) And your right about the energy use. The energy could just as easily be productive rather than destructive to the environment (as in your e.g. nuclear powered tree planter). That's not what history shows, however. Human nature i...

http://www.chrismartenson.com/crashcourse/chapter-17a-peak-oil If you watch or read chapters 17-end, I think this gives a decent explanation of peak oil and how it relates to the economy, and how energy use in general relates to the environment. I'll try and give an analogy although I'm not sure how...

Thanks for all the info and corrections about microwaves. I was thoroughly misinformed  Upon further investigation it seems the frequency I'm looking for is much, much higher than I previously thought (in the exohertz range for atoms, even higher for ions). I did some further research and disc...

When I first discovered the polywell this was my first thought - then I saw the video and indeed they applied a microwave to it. Shouldn't the frequency range match the resonant frequency of the fuel's nucleus? 2.4 Ghz is what a water molecule oscillates at so that's why microwaves are tuned to that...
