Ah sorry about that. I thought the news forum was for polywell news. I should go there more often.

Google didn't buy it

Any one else disappointed that Google wasn't convinced of the viability of polywell? Of course they are not a power company but they have invested in solar technology. They could easily fund EMC2, even a demo plant.

Since the fusion ions (weather from DD or PB11 fusion) remain charged in the reaction vacuum vessel they could not reenter the core due to the large positive potential on the magrid (and the magnetic fields). Would the magnetic field also repel the helium ions? The alpha particles, immediately afte...

Enrico Fermi operated the first self sustaining chain reacting pile. Its power output was about 100 watts IIRC. This was a while before the atomic bomb.

I don't think telling the world to go back to DC is going to work. AC has a multitude of advantages the first 2 that stand in my mind are: 1. Voltages and currents are easily stepped down and up 2. Very long transmission distances are allowed by high voltage AC Number 2 could be accomplished with hi...

alternating current

Could alternating current be developed in a collection grid by simply modulating the fuel ion injection rate?

I have found a turbo molecular pump that can pump 1,800 liters per second of helium (in an already high vacuum). We could put one of these things on each face of a geodesic sphere. But there are 2 problems that I can think of already: 1) where do you put the pump that gets it out of the way of the e...

alpha particles are radiation. Just not as much of a nuisance as neutron radiation. If you need a pure, no neutron reaction, 3He+3He is the way to go.
