Re: www.emc2fusion.org is down
It seems that .org and .com have both been down for over a year now. So what do you make of that?

Re: Obama Makes Jimmy Carter Look Good
There is a whole world of Jimmy Carter compassion generosity and service, that would be opened to you if you choose to explore it. Compassion, generosity and service are not in the job description. They are liberal constructs of government. The idea that compassion trumps liberty is the problem! Th...

Re: Obama Makes Jimmy Carter Look Good
That is not what his Secret Service agents said about him. They said he was pompous, arrogant, condescending, deceitful and a real jerk to work for. There is also an accusation that he attempted to force a Georgian Management company on the Shah of Iran, which the Shah rejected, resulting in the an...

Re: Obama Makes Jimmy Carter Look Good
Obama is starting to make Jimmy Carter look good. Also Bernanke is an idiot: http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2011/02/02/how-inflation-is-turning-breakfast-into-a-luxury-item/?section=magazines_fortune I went through this once in the '70s. I never thought that anybody would ever be so stupid to think...

The way I read it, it's 7.5mm=2800 A. The minor diameter is 50mm so that is a ratio of ~6.66 to 1. So according to this table there are ~33 windings. However, 6.5mm =1200 A. With a 50mm minor radius, the ratio is ~7.69 to 1, resulting in ~46 windings 2800 *33 =92,000 Amp-turns 1200 * 46 = 55,000 Amp...

The more I look at these, the hanelyp "winged" octahedron and the "single-coil" octahedron: http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x367/Robert_Peters/Hanelyp_Tetrahedron_Oblique_1.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x367/Robert_Peters/Single_Coil_Octahedron.jpg The more convinced I am the close ap...

KitemanSA, If I am recalling the proper example magrid design. The x-cusp regions are bounded by four sides with 4 corners. The opposing magnetic fields would be compressed essentially to the magnet casings where they meet. On the surface this would seem to result in a line cusp of zero width inter...

rjay, you are completely missing the point, which is that happyjack27's statement does not apply to tombos . The reason rectified tetrahedrons have bad containment has very little to do with the number of faces; it has to do with the degree of quasi-spherity of the magnetic fields forming the Wiffle...

The first thread in this forum stated that the purpose of this forum was to as a community design an open source polywell reactor. That never really came together, but there have been some interesting Idea's posted. Of course this forum, and the theory forum have so much overlap, that it's become ve...

This illustration also leads to my opinion that the corner cusps are not strictly equivalent to point cusps, but are compound structures incorporating point and very narrow line cusp components. Dan, No-one really argues that a virtual magnet that is so completely a con cave sided flat triangle won...

It's amazing that year after I still see the same old tired arguments on the subject of Drugs. If you want to know the effects of legalizing drugs, look at the statistics of the countries where drugs are legal, then compare them to the statistics where they are illegal. The same could be said for pr...

Regardless of terminology, the Tombo concept divides the sphere into eight regions*, four real and four virtual coils, the same numbers as a tetrahedron. Further, the Tombo enlarges the virtual coils to cover the same solid angle as the real coils. Whether that is good for confinement, I don't know...

Another factor which may also be very significant is the shape of the cusp throat as it narrows into the cusp. The Wiffleball effect pushes these throats out and flattens them to almost a flat surface (spherical towards the center). This is what effectively decreases the leakage. The cusp itself (w...

Okay. I just like the single-coil, if it can be built... Edit: I looked back and the spherized Tombo was never submitted for simulation. AFAIK it hasn't been simulated. Topologically, the closest coil configuration to a spherized Tombo is a tetrahedron which has terrible confinement (according to h...
