Logo needed

Post by JoeStrout »

We need a logo to go at the top of the page, replacing the default "phpbb" logo. Something that fits nicely with the theme of the site, and ideally incorporates a polywell reactor (perhaps in stylized form).

Ideally it should be the same size (200x91 pixels), and on a white background. Can anyone help out?

Thanks,
— Joe

Not sure if one of Indrek's pics might be better?

That's a nice rendering; not a logo in itself, but might serve as a starting point.

We can just stick with the phpbb logo for now, but if anyone with graphic design skills comes along and reads this, please consider helping us out with a nice talk-polywell logo!

Thanks,

Fractal Logo

Post by jlumartinez »

I suggest to use a FRACTAL as Web logo. There are some really beautiful and suggestive !!

For example:

They are indeed beautiful, but are somewhat lacking in relevance in this case. I was hoping for something suggestive of a Polywell reactor. Maybe a stylized six-ring reactor with a starbust in the middle, representing the fusion reaction. And then of course the words "Talk-Polywell" next to it, making a complete logo.

I can easily ray-trace some rings, but I'm not sure how to put a starburst in the center. Any POV-Ray users here, perchance?

No go. I recall that the final form won't be that, and it may be misleading.

As for the second suggestion, I cannot access it.

As a primitive logo, we could have the atom, or fusing atoms?

I know an artist/illustrator that may help. I've sent him a PM over his own board. I'll see his reply.

Favicon

You need to do a Favicon too!

Here are some links:

The focus is on Blogspot, however with the page as a resource you should be able to do it here:

That's a good point; I hadn't even thought of that. I know how to do one, though, so it's just a matter of coming up with something legible in 16x16 pixels. I'll probably try taking the 6-ring rendering in the top-of-page logo and scaling it down. Thanks for the suggestion!

Favicon Looks nice!

You might want to think about colors.

Maybe just a purple dot in the middle.
