Texas Republican Party Endorses Marijuana Decriminalization

Evidently they have looked at the polls and want some of those votes.
Perhaps even more surprising is that the poll found that 57 percent of Republican voters say they support marijuana legalization as well.

I doubt that the number is as high as 57% at this time. Over 50% is quite likely. For now. The numbers have been on a steady rise for decades.

Welcome back MSimon...long time no see. Any thoughts about Canada's decision to completely legalize Marijuana?

Canada becomes second nation in the world to legalize marijuana

(CNN) — Recreational marijuana use will soon be legal in Canada after the Senate passed a "historic" bill on Tuesday with a vote of 52-29.

Canada is only the second country in the world -- and the first G7 nation -- to implement legislation to permit a nationwide marijuana market. In the neighboring US, nine states and the District of Columbia now allow for recreational marijuana use, and 30 allow for medical use.

How long do you estimate before the US guv at the federal level follows suit?

From what I can see Republicans are slow walking the end of Prohibition. Trump is certainly sympathetic (more on that below) but he is not willing to push it any faster than he needs to to keep slightly ahead of the issue.

Addiction is a medical problem - Trump

And on cannabis would you believe that Sen "Indian" Warren and Sen Gardner (R-CO) have introduced a bill? With Trump's approval.

A position Trump has held for almost 30 years.

In a speech delivered at the Miami Herald’s Company of the Year Awards luncheon, Donald Trump condemned the “war on drugs” as “a joke” and called for the legalization of drugs. “We’re losing badly the war on drugs,” he said. “You have to legalize drugs to win that war. You have to take the profit away from these drug czars.”
