paperburn1 wrote:There is no federal law that criminalizes collusion between a political campaign and foreign government.
So..the basis of the Mueller investigation is built on a fraud/misdirection; that is that there is such a crime as "colluding with Russia". It doesn't exist (as a crime); that's why it (the investigation) will/must default to "obstruction of justice" the Comey firing or some such.
paperburn1 wrote:Even though “colluding” with a foreign government, especially one as hostile as the Russian government may be inappropriate or politically damaging, it’s not illegal. In this sense, collusion is viewed as a political term and not a legal term.
As a result, Trump Jr, Manafort, and Kushner could not be prosecuted under a charge called “collusion.”
So why would Muller even be investigating something that is not a federal crime. Collusion...Meh
Uhh..to get Trump anyway they can because they couldn't accept that outcome of the election?

As an aside I don't think the 2018 mid-terms will go the way the Dems/libs think it will; don't think there will be anything like a "blue wave" this fall or in general:

The gist; running on "abolishing ICE", that is a thinly veiled let's open the southern US border is not a winner for the democrats. Lefty liberal white suburbanites are all for "diversity", "inclusion", etc., until it happens in their homogenous neighborhoods. As illegal immigrants inevitably at some point start fanning out of Texas & California into the environs of the rest of the country the reaction will be interesting to observe.

Lisa Page will look for an immunity deal: Chris Farrell

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mZTnZDU3VQ

Lisa Page grilled on Capitol Hill

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zJCdUDU5gU

To wit...Strozk claimed in his testimony before the Hill that what he said in his text about "No, no he won't. We'll stop it" in response to Lisa Page's text of "[Trump's] not ever going to become president right, Right?" was taken out of context. He only meant "we" as in the voters will stop it he claimed. Apparently Lisa Page said that no, it (the text) was meant by him and her to mean exactly what they said; as in "we" the FBI will somehow stop Trump from being made POTUS. Wonder what more we will learn if she gets that immunity and completely flips on ex-lover Peter Strozk?

The point I was trying to make.
The Mueller investigation is not about or ever has been about Collusion. Period, end of story.
But both sides keep yelling at the top of there soapbox with great arms waving , saying " Look, look Collusion" and the other side Look, "Look no collusion"
Hence the MEH.

2018 will be a very interesting election. Of this i am sure as well. It will set the tone for the next decade.

Exactly.

Collusion is too vague a term to have any legal meaning.

Obstruction of justice is not vague. Conspiracy can be very specific, although it has to be connected to some specific wrongdoing to have any legal punch.

Funneling foreign money into Presidential campaign coffers? Knowingly accepting it? Requesting a foreign government to commit a crime to bolster your campaign? Yeah. Failing to disclose you are acting as an agent for a foreign and hostile government? Uh huh.

Treason is kinda tricky. A day or two back the Washington Post examined this and reported that treason means you took arms against your country or supported an enemy in times of war. So the charges of treason in the last few days, or during the last election or administration, are just hot air. We were not at war. So publicly kissing the butt of a our greatest foe may just be unpatriotic. More so, I think, than taking a knee during the National Anthem.

Wasn't there a controversial SCOTUS decision a few years back that ok'd the legality of a foreign country donating money as political contributions? Provided there was a intermediary recipient (who then donated it, i.e. a PAC or lobbyist)? So unless there is a particular law that says a "hostile government" can't contribute (either to Trump's campaign or to the Clinton Foundation) isn't it perfectly legal?

How pray tell you could you possibly prove that the Trump campaign "requested" the Russians "commit a crime" by hacking into Clinton's compromised server as well as the DNC? Especially when the intelligence services have indicated that there were multiple foreign actors (Russians, Chinese, etc.) believed to be taking advantage of Hillary Clinton's (& the DNC) careless incompetence?

I just asked a bunch of questions.

The point is, there is a group of crack investigators and lawyers looking into a bunch of actual legal questions, none of which are "collusion", and the POTUS keeps tweeting "no collusion". I think it must even put it on his lunch orders.

Meanwhile, he keeps acting as if he is scared to death the pee pee tapes are going to be released any minute.

And certain members of this forum act precisely as if they are plants of the GRU. Are they? I dunno. The could just be easily-duped idiots.

This much is clear. By his own words, POTUS has obstructed justice. This much is clear. With the exception of POTUS and a couple of people in this forum, it is widely understood that the Russians have been attempting to compromise US elections. I'm not cool with people who deny the obvious.

Trump!'s chief political talent, it to make his enemies overreact to the extent they are more ridiculous than he is. You here are a good example of that.

" By his own words, POTUS has obstructed justice. " <-- Bullshit.

" And certain members of this forum act precisely as if they are plants of the GRU. " <-- Like I said, more ridiculous even than he is.

Is what Obama did. I do not recall you never said squat about it then. Also, no evidence whatsoever it happened here on the GOP side.
Tom Ligon wrote:Requesting a foreign government to commit a crime to bolster your campaign?
No evidence it happened even once.
Tom Ligon wrote:Failing to disclose you are acting as an agent for a foreign and hostile government?
No evidence that happened either.
Tom Ligon wrote:Treason is kinda tricky.
As you just pointed out, no it isn't. Acting like it is tricky here is you being more ridiculous even than Trump! is.

No, the latter is far more unpatriotic. Diplomacy is the art of saying nice doggie while you find a big enough rock...

...And you idiot, what Trump! is doing--getting NATO countries to spend more to be militarily competent while drilling with the Baltics and co-operating with Ukraine, Sweden, Finland, and several ex Warsaw Pact nations--is finding that rock.

All the Democrats had to do to win the election in 2016 waltzing away with it was find someone substantially less odious than Trump! to be their candidate, instead they picked the one who was worse even than he is. All the Republicans had to do once Hillary was the nominee was pick a candidate that couldn't lose to her, and they had several. Instead they picked the one that could lose to her and almost did.

But he didn't quite. In no small measure because rust belts whites finally had had enough of voting for a political party which was telling them their skin color was the flaw in the world to be repaired -- a thing anyone with a brain could expect them to get tired of eventually. Right about time the money ran out towards them getting a payoff to put up with it.

Now with the economy growing and no roadblocks in sight, it is conceivable Trump! will get 2 terms and 4 SCOTUS picks. I hope so, since odds are we would then be up 6 to 3 with the aconstitutional Leftists regularly overruled. We might see Reynolds and Wickard overturned, and whichever one that was that called the general welfare clause a plenipotentiary grant of power. Excellent!

All because Democrats believed their own bullshit one too many times.

The kind of BS you are believing now. And spewing.

And now we get to the real problem. We had an election in which our choices were two odious piles.

So at least you recognize that Trump is one of those odious piles. And you LOVE him.

What are we going to do to stop electing odious piles?

George Will had some opinions on this. I note that some of the Fox commentators seem to be pretty fed up as well. As well as many of the top people in the administration, appointed by Trump.

Preferential voting is one part of the solution, controlling gerrymandering is the next be key.

Australia uses various forms of preferential voting for almost all elections. Under this system, voters number the candidates on the ballot paper in the order of their preference.
If we are to ever get control of our political system again , this needs to happen now.
I voted third party and have been repeatedly told I wasted my vote by the left and the right. But I think a vote for someone I do not like is wasting my vote.
May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.-- Firefly

Precisely; by threatening to pull out of NATO to force the other members like especially Germany to fulfill their treaty obligations and spend their fair share on their own defense. Numerous previous Presidents like Obama made a largely symbolic protests along the same lines that were completely ignored by them. Trump understands negotiation enough to know that unless you threaten consequences (like pulling out of NATO that Europe needs allot more than we do) people will do as they please and walk all over you. You forgot to mention arming the Ukraine resistance, killing 250 Russian soldiers in Syria, opposing the big pipeline deal between Russian and Germany, further undermining Russian interests by setting up future American Natural gas exports to Europe in the not to distant future. Putin's "puppet" strikes again.

On paper your maybe right..personally I think Jeb Bush would have lost to Hillary; wouldn't underestimate Trump. But yeah Hillary was a seriously flawed candidate. I a life long Democrat in Presidential elections (only previous exception was Gary Johnson in 2012) voted Republican for the first time in my life, and will likely vote the same in 2020.

Yes...the so called racist "deplorable" who somehow elected Barrack Obama (twice!).

You forget to mention Row VS Wade on likely life support as well. Don't think that the growing Hispanic vote (even the women) would necessarily break in the "feminist" pro-abortion camp either; remember aren't most Hispanic raised Catholic? I also think that Hispanic Catholics probably take their religious teachings more seriously than allot of non-Hispanic Americans do (perhaps) we shall see. That could shape up to be another Democratic miscalculation if Roe Vs Wade were overturned by Trump's soon to be very Conservative SCOTUS.

Along that theme, the gift (along with Maxine Waters) that keeps on giving:

America’s Top Socialist issues call to immediately “occupy” all airports, ICE offices

Image

I believe it was only yesterday when Ed Morrissey described New York congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as “the gift that keeps on giving.” Well, the giving continues today and it’s only getting better. (Editor’s note: The phrase “better” may only apply if you are a conservative.)

See Also: Actor-director says something positive about Ben Shapiro and Twitter erupts with outrage

She gave an interview to Democracy Now! this week where she set forth some of her agenda for her swelling army of socialist supporters on the Democratic left flank. Rather than focusing on new progressive policy initiatives or getting out the vote, Ocasio-Cortez called on the unwashed masses to take to the streets in the fashion of Occupy Wall Street, but relocate their forces to “occupy” the nation’s airports, all of the ICE offices and “the border.” I’m not sure how one “occupies” a border but at least she’s thinking outside the box. (PJ Media, emphasis added)

Democrat candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has made a huge splash since trouncing incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley in the NY-14 primary, calls herself a socialist and is big on activism, if not geopolitics.

So big on activism, in fact, that in an interview with Democracy Now! on Monday, she called for the “occupation” of airports and ICE offices as part of the effort to “mobilize” the so-called Resistance…

“We have to have a rapid response,” she said. “And I think every day that we go on, especially a day when something that heinous happens, we have to occupy all of it. We need to occupy every airport. We need to occupy every border. We need to occupy every ICE office until those kids are back with their parents, period.”

“We have to show people that we’re willing to walk the walk,” she said.

This should have Democrats shaking in their boots like nothing else. They created this Frankenstein by launching her as the new face of the Democratic Party before anyone really knew anything about her. Now she’s taking that role to heart and sucking all the oxygen out of the Democrats’ midterm strategy, replacing it with this kind of talk. The Dems should have learned some lessons from the Occupy Wall Street era, which saw an issue which many people could sympathize with to some degree turning into a backlash against the activists. I’ve never seen anything create a public condemnation of protests like the closure of critical infrastructure.

Whether people might tend to naturally agree with a particular group of protesters or not, once you start blocking the interstates and shutting down the airports (which are miserable enough places for travelers to be stuck in to begin with) you become the enemy. If this is seen as the new “strategy” of the Democrats going into the midterms, they may as well stay home on election day.

We saw the same thing with Black Lives Matter when they began to conflate “disruption” with free speech and peaceful protesting. Marching along on the sidewalks with banners, signs and chanting may catch the attention of passers-by and perhaps even get them interested in your cause. Amassing on the highway and causing commuters to be late to work or picking their kids up from school will get their attention for sure, but it will only stimulate an interest in cursing your name and calling for you to be arrested. Similarly, when BLM shut down the Minneapolis Airport and the Mall of America in 2015 it did not lead to support for their movement. People were simply outraged and wanted them to go away.

Now the Democratic leadership is faced with a problem. Do they support the “occupy” calls of their new superstar and own the results or start another internal war with her on a very public stage? Either way, this is looking more and more like a surefire way to turn a blue wave into a blue quagmire.

Well Tom...give us something substantial to chew on as far as Polywell (or any kind of Fusion) updates; sure we would all love to hear them?!

As far as "PizzaGate conspiracy theories" that's interesting considering that you mentioned the "pee pee tapes" rumor that is from the highly suspect ex foreign agent Steele documents paid for by the Hillary Clinton/DNC/Fusion GPS, obviously from Russian sources; leaked to the press and used for an even more suspect surveillance warrant, the real "Russian collaboration", to elect Hillary.

And yet no one is concerned about Chinese efforts to do the same.

Look, from my perspective, you seem like you have drank the Kool-Aid which the entrenched-bureaucracy/Media people have been pushing, which attempts to scandalize the Trump administration and pretend that the psychotic witch-hag didn't lose because she smells corrupt and people don't like her.

The Russians had no significant impact on the election one way or the other. The whole scandal is a made up face saving maneuver by Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit, and which her hordes of flying attack monkeys have amplified into a "thing."

The forces that want government grown bigger are all in on this phoney baloney crap, and their motive is clear. More money for more government which means more money for them and more power and significance to their lives.
