new riot control idea

Instead of tear gas they should use bong smoke. They'll be too stoned to care about stealing

Wondering how many of the rioters are already under the influence of various illicit drugs.

They are ALL on cocaine - or coffee. Not a difference of kind. Just degree.

We could find out. Drug test everyone before they are allowed in a public place. Alcohol - the only drug with a proven connection (not just anecdotal) to violence - would be of particular concern.

I wonder how many of those militarized local beefed up cops abuse steroids? Heard that was an issue with police.

Steroid Abuse Has Become A Major Problem Among Police Officers

A national expert who’s been studying steroid use in all types of subcultures from athletics to the military believes “tens of thousands” of cops all across the U.S. are on such illegal drugs.

Investigations in Oregon, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, New York and other states have in recent years found disturbing evidence of police officers abusing steroids. But Connecticut police insist they’ve never seen it here.

A national expert who’s been studying steroid use in all types of subcultures from athletics to the military believes “tens of thousands” of cops all across the U.S. are on such illegal drugs. But the head of the largest police union in this state, a man who spent 20 years with the Milford P.D., says the issue has never even been raised in any Connecticut disciplinary hearing he knows about.

A recent scandal in New Jersey turned up 248 public safety officials — most of them cops — who were getting steroids prescribed by a steroid-abusing doctor, and New Jersey officials responded by ordering random police drug testing. But a Connecticut State Police spokesman says his department doesn’t do that.
The biggest concern most people have over steroid “juiced” cops is the potential for increased aggression in someone who’s armed and trained to use everything from pepper spray and stun guns to firearms. And one result of the New Jersey scandal is a spate of civil lawsuits claiming excessive use of force by some of the officers implicated in steroid abuse.

An ex military friend of mine that worked as prison guard for a bit was almost begging for drug recommendations to improve strength. Didn't sound like he was the only one.

Steroids suppress the immune system. What would any rational person expect would happen long term from their use? Pathogens are linked to psychiatric disorders.
1+1 = ? go figure.

Anabolic steroids are not illegal, you can legally purchase many of them provided you can get someone to write you a prescription.
As long as you don't stay on them straight for long periods of them your ok, but if someone is on juice and doesn't do cycles, then they are going to start doing permanent harm. Test is not a bad thing. It doesn't suppress your immune system, it actually does the exact opposite while encouraging tissue and bone growth. The problem is too much artificial T and your body stops producing natural T which can have very severe long term consequences once you come off it.

Just like Reefer Madness was totally accurate.

Of course you didn't read my post and just glanced over it, otherwise you'd see that I referenced cycles which what current users do. There is a ton of FUD spread about AAS's mostly by people who've never done research. Roid rage, and many of the other side effects, only happens with long term users who aren't periodically tapering off or who are taking way more for their body weight then is safe. That's probably the biggest danger, a little bit of T will cause dramatic increases in muscle mass and strength and users will get the idea that if a little was so good, then doing even more will have a more dramatic increase, and it does but it'll cause very bad side effects. Your body naturally produces testosterone which AAS's just emulate and most males today are deficient in T due to our sedentary lifestyles and processed food diets. There are many things any of us can do to naturally boost our T levels without needing to go on AAS's, cleaning up diet, getting a full 7~8 hours of sleep per night, frequently exercising and lifting weights all raise your levels. So a little bit of T gel or injection (stay the f*ck away from oral) can't hurt you and will have a dramatically positive effect.

That's the real issue. "Dramatic" increases in muscle mass generate severe demands on the heart, and people who do this seldom live out of their fifties. So whether you're doing it for strength as an athlete, or for beauty as in body builders, you are from the start, tempted to abuse the drugs for short term gains that produce long term deficits, and this is what ethicists all consider an immoral use of the drugs. It's one thing to use this stuff to maintain muscle mass your body would otherwise already grow, say for instance if you're staying on ISS for 9 months, or are confined to a wheelchair or bed becasue of an injury and one expects you'll eventually get back on your feet. Its another thing entirely to synthetically alter a healthy person's percent muscle for strength or beauty purposes. That should be considered by doctors to be a violation of their oath to "do no harm".

Geriatrics is the real grey area. There does seem to be some evidence that using this stuff to prolong an otherwise healthy physique when age takes its toll, is not nearly as dangerous as these other applications, but the data to date is really not sufficient to say, so one plays with this stuff at his own risk. I can remember doing a study in philosophy of technology back in the early 90's, on anti-aging techniques, and some of the benefits of the early HGH uses were startling. Guys in their 80's with bodies like they had in their 30's. . .but they were all under regular doctors supervision. Anything else is asking for a heart attack.

County investigation: Michael Brown was shot from the front, had marijuana in his system
Also seeing reports of eye witnesses saying the deceased was charging the cop when shot.

I expect more riots in response to these announcements.

Yeah. Gonna be hard to get to the bottom of this one. The witness who says Brown was charging when shot was another cop on the scene, so his testimony will be suspect. There is however, some surprise audio taken by a witness where one witness is telling an early arriver on the scene that Brown was charging the cop.

And yeah, if it's true, its also easy to tell why the witness who says he had his hands up, failed *coughcough* to mention he was charging when he was killed.

The resentment the Drug War causes in the Black community explains a LOT of the hostility in the Black Community towards police. Blacks and whites use and deal drugs about equally. Blacks are arrested more frequently (on a per capita basis) and given far harsher punishment for equal crimes.

Yes Mr. Brown was a thug. Prohibition creates thugs. Thuggery is a viable career option during Prohibitions. There is a demand.

But the disproportionate policing of Blacks during this prohibition makes about as much sense as the disproportionate policing of Italians during the last one. Well I suppose Italians are inherently thuggish.

================

Well that explains the protesting. Fortunately we are ending Prohibition and in 20 or 30 years this resents will die away.

When police are seen as an occupying army this is the kind of culture you get. It was no different in South Africa when apartheid was ending.

Ah. But the lessons of history? No one wants to learn from them. It is inconvenient. It ruins the narrative.
