Jimmy Carter All Over Again

Postby mvanwink5 » Mon Jun 02, 2014 10:57 am

I'll date myself here, back when JC was president I went through a process where I would think, well, JC just made another blunder, he is learning, he'll figure out how not to make such blunders and because he is so smart things will go well from here on. Then, as time went on I realized the universe was so big that JC could make massive blunders until the cows came home and that JC's problem was that he had no sense, period.

Well, along comes Obama and right out of the gate is Obama care. That about covers the rest of the story as it follows JC to the letter. But no sense in stopping at multi trillion dollar destruction of the health care industry when the power industry can be "improved" and made civilized to protect us from CO2. I guess there is no stopping stupid.
From Bloomberg (apparently one of those “read in” to tomorrow’s announcement): President Barack Obama will propose cutting greenhouse-gas emissions from the nation’s power plants by an average of 30 percent from 2005 levels by 2030, according to people briefed on the plans.
No need to quote the source, the bad news will soak your shirt.

There is an optimist's convoluted view of stupid, and that is that it cures itself, one way or the other.

The Democans must be running for the November bunkers, heads down to dodge tomato projectiles. Soylent Greens have gotten their wish, a numbskull who listened to them. Republicrats will rally and save the Democans by arguing there is another way to kill the economy and reduce CO2.

Prog vs Prog, the drama rolls on, and when all the lemmings rush the cliff, it is hard not to get swept up in their hubris care taking river of good intentions.

Putin must be laughing his head off.

"The lawlessness of Hitler's Germany, beneath a veneer of legal forms, was absolute. As Goering put it, "The law and the will of the Fuhrer are one." Hans Frank: "Our constitution is the will of the Fuhrer." Hitler worked entirely through decrees and ordinances, as opposed to law, here again resembling Lenin, who never showed the slightest interest in constitution-making."

Chinese General Says U.S. Foreign Policy Has ‘Erectile Dysfunction’ Problems

Image

He said that this depended on the U.S. ability to project power, citing Ukraine as an example.

He said, “we can see from the situation in Ukraine this kind of ED” –which he explained in Chinese was a military abbreviation for something that may have meant “extended deployment” – “has become the male type of ED problem – erectile dysfunction.”

Well I for one am not surprised. Elect a socialist retard and what do you expect?

Ol' Jimmy's looking better and better in hindsight. He may have not done all that much for the military (in fact, he was pretty bad in fighting for the military budget...) but he at least nominally believed in the need for a military that could project force around the world.

Obama... well, it says a lot when Jimmy Carter's looked at with increasing respect in hindsight.

I see no evidence that Carter hated the US. With the current putz his contempt for the country oozes from every pore.

They had to go with someone photogenic and charismatic, regardless of what was inside the wrapper. Hillary couldn't cut it, accomplishment-wise, and still can't. She wouldn't have had a chance in the general election against McCain/Palin, especially considering how Palin was boosting his campaign. (Still think his campaign managers decided to throw the election - if they'd unleashed Palin instead of stifling her, he'd have won. A charismatic and telegenic woman, governor of Alaska, accomplished, connecting with flyover country while McCain satisfied the coasts? That's a winning combination. But for whatever reason, they pulled her back - likely (I think) because she wasn't proper East Coast intelligentsia and acceptable to the DC crowd.)

Well, they got what they wished for. Been working really well, hasn't it?

Frankly, even though I didn't vote for Obama I was expecting a hell of a lot better. Weren't we told how he was so uber-smart, intelligent, accomplished and wise? Didn't his speeches just send tingles up pundits legs? (I'm starting to wonder if those weren't hot trickles downward of something else entirely...)

Shows you what hype and charisma get you.

Or was that 'hope and change'?

As it is, I'm hoping we'll be able to change out this miserable excuse for an executive come 2016... and not for Her Royal Hillaryness, either. As long as the 22nd Amendment's in place, the incompetent putz is limited to two terms. I don't think Hillary's going to run - and the Dems don't have anyone else with the name recognition. Reid, maybe? Pelosi? Yeah, run them for the top job, see how badly they implode.

Well the Rs in Texas are doing their best. They favor reparative therapy for gays (discredited last year by those running a program) and no for med pot - despite 10 states recently going for at least part of it to help children with severe epilepsy. That makes 32 states now with some kind of med pot law.

And we haven't even gotten to the fairly well documented evidence that high THC high CBD pot cures cancer.

But of course the climate change Democrats favor genocide to cure the planet of its human infection. So it is really hard to choose between them.

I gore the Democrats (genocide) here: http://classicalvalues.com/2014/06/what-the-left-has-in-store-for-you/

And the Republicans (let the sick people suffer/die) here: http://classicalvalues.com/2014/06/texas-repulicans-oppose-medical-cannabis/

So what do the two sides have in common? "We will use the power of the State to improve you. Or else." Charming.

I feel mostly the same. While I think Carter's philosophy and political beliefs weren't right for the US, I think he, like just about all past presidents, felt themselves to be leaders of America and were mostly on the same team. The bottom line: overall they wanted the US to be successful, whether or not their implemented policies actually improved things or not.

It has been six years with Obama and I still can't figure if he is either inflicting harm on the country intentionally, or through sheer stubborn and willful adherence to a socialist agenda and belief that such policies must be tried, over and over, until it actually "works." For example: the guy knew, as well as all thinking people did, that his statements about being able to keep your healthcare plan and doctor under the ACA was bullcrap. So he was making bold lies. He knew he could get away with the lies and the press would not tear him apart on it. He knew it would help get the law passed. So. Was he lying because he knew it would further an agenda to harm the system by screwing people and killing off insurance companies and hospitals and making people pay more? Or was he lying because he really believed that in order to make improvements, he needed to pass a law most people would reject if they knew the truth?

I can't tell for sure.

My impression of Jimmy Carter was that he tried to govern by opinion poll, unfortunately opinion polls at the time clearly demonstrated that people wanted to have it both ways on all issues. Your current president's governing philosophy would appear to be based more on Saul Alinsky/Frankfurt School.

Sadly, I don't think you're far wrong.

One of the bad things I've heard (among the multitudes) about Alinsky is that there's no plan for any sort of reconstruction AFTER the system is crashed. Somehow, something magical is going to happen and everything will be just wonderful and fine and everyone will sing Kumbayah and all the support systems that have been developed for modern civilization will continue without any interruption. Maybe Marxism, maybe communism, maybe socialism, but those old devils Capitalism and Democracy will be gone.

Phones, lights, water, sewer, food production and distribution, transportation - it'll all just magically continue with no change... just like Venezuela.

I really believe Obama's got no clue at all what it takes to keep the country going. "Price of energy will necessarily skyrocket" my ass - HE doesn't pay his power bills, so what does HE care how his energy policies affect the 'common folk'? That food costs more when energy prices are high is a good thing, it'll keep us from getting obese, right?

2014's election is going to be interesting - 2016 even more so. There's a lot of unhappy people out here - and I don't think the Dems realize just how unhappy they are.

Problem is the Republicans know just what to do to take the edge off.

Running Obamacare lite in an anti-Obamacare year?

It is the same as saying "You are screwed no matter who you vote for." Brilliant. The devil you know gains attraction.

Well, hell - all we've got to do is legalize pot and all our problems go away, right?
