They had to go with someone photogenic and charismatic, regardless of what was inside the wrapper. Hillary couldn't cut it, accomplishment-wise, and still can't. She wouldn't have had a chance in the general election against McCain/Palin, especially considering how Palin was boosting his campaign. (Still think his campaign managers decided to throw the election - if they'd unleashed Palin instead of stifling her, he'd have won. A charismatic and telegenic woman, governor of Alaska, accomplished, connecting with flyover country while McCain satisfied the coasts? That's a winning combination. But for whatever reason, they pulled her back - likely (I think) because she wasn't proper East Coast intelligentsia and acceptable to the DC crowd.)
Well, they got what they wished for. Been working really well, hasn't it?
Frankly, even though I didn't vote for Obama I was expecting a hell of a lot better. Weren't we told how he was so uber-smart, intelligent, accomplished and wise? Didn't his speeches just send tingles up pundits legs? (I'm starting to wonder if those weren't hot trickles downward of something else entirely...)
Shows you what hype and charisma get you.
Or was that 'hope and change'?
As it is, I'm hoping we'll be able to change out this miserable excuse for an executive come 2016... and not for Her Royal Hillaryness, either. As long as the 22nd Amendment's in place, the incompetent putz is limited to two terms. I don't think Hillary's going to run - and the Dems don't have anyone else with the name recognition. Reid, maybe? Pelosi? Yeah, run them for the top job, see how badly they implode.
When opinion and reality conflict - guess which one is going to win in the long run.
