Everybody, please settle down.

I know this is the "general" forum — which I frequently regret creating in the first place (but suspect that if it were not here, the off-topic threads would just end up elsewhere on the board) — but even so, we need to keep it civility. No ad hominem attacks. If you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all.

I'm closing locking this topic, which has devolved into mere back-and-forth attacks from what I can see. I've been away for the last couple of weeks, but now that I'm back, I'll try to be more active. However, I shouldn't have to step in like this — if everybody makes an effort to leave each thread in a better state than they found it, we'll all benefit.
