Accomplishments and Corporate Ingratitude

Post by Jccarlton »

The best way to insure your company becomes mediocre is to stifle your innovative employees. I was key mechanical designer on both the Axion TOF and the DSA. I spent two years and took an enormous amount of grief to make the Axion and DSA the innovative tools that they are. I got as close as I have ever been to total burnout to get it done. my reward for what seems to me to be an excellent job. I was "restructured." Yes it hurts.:

That is not good. What were the reasons given? I have heard of engineers being let go because "math works the same in India - but India costs less." Not sure if I totally believe that though.

I did see this opening, but it may be out of date:

Is this related to your line of work?

Best of luck to you.

That's the same company that laid me off. that job was open when they laid me of and had they offered it to me, it would have been a promotion. Now I would not take It.

The "hire and fire" mentality is costing corporations dearly. More traditionally minded companies in Germany and other European countries aim to keep their good and well trained engineers and workers. That is why the same helicopter produced in Germany can carry 10% more than the same model produced in the US.
I guess that is what you get when you try everything to keep the shareholders happy. It wont pay off in the long term though. You can see that well in the american auto industry.
