My knee jerk response would be to immediately dismiss the arguments you linked, but after having seen similar behavior on this side of the pond I can grudgingly concede that perhaps some of the arguments are plausible. I am not nearly so well informed as to what was going on in England as I am regarding what has been going on in the United States.

That was similar to my response. Like you, I think, after I stopped to consider what I know I realized that I actually don't know much about her aside from what you hear in the press, which is pretty light on detail.

Yes, but what she supported was the European Common Market, which was used as a wedge to get the ball rolling for tighter economic integration, and ultimately, the creation of the EU and subsequently, the Euro.

I remember when this one lefty journalist was going to interview her, normally he gave right wingers a hard time, but after one or two answers he was cringing, totally intimidated, and she was merely being firm with him at that point, would have crushed him off if she decided to get rough. One Brit described her as an iron fist in a mailed glove, one tough old bird.
