It all depends on the size of the market. Directing punishment against 100,000 child pornographers is not very expensive.

Now consider the active 30 to 45 million cannabis users. About 3% of those run afoul of the law every rear.

Very funny that on this site, a place where people are assumed to be of high enough intelligence to not commit such huge logical fallacies as appeal to absurdity. If I'm not mistake I think he just attempted to compare cannabis users to child pornographers and use emotional logic to support this prohibition. That is a very intellectually dishonest tactic and what little respect / credit he may of had evaporated. Recreational cannabis users represent such a large amount of our population that trying to make their vice illegal is economically stupid. They will still seek their product, but instead of a legal business providing it there will be an illegal one. Legal business's do competition in a regulated way, illegal business's do not. You won't see a hit squad from Burger King going into McDonald's restaurants and executing the staff if they sell in an area claimed by Burger King. You do see that amongst illegal business's.

My point was the size of the market not the severity of the crime.

Canadian Kids Smoke Most Marijuana In Western World: UNICEF

Image

A new survey from UNICEF has found that more Canadian kids smoke marijuana than anywhere else in the western world.

The study on the well-being of children ranked Canada first out of 29 countries on the percentage of young people smoking pot.

Fully 28 per cent of the 11, 13 and 15-year-old Canadian children surveyed said they had smoked marijuana at some point during the last year.

Countries with far more liberal drugs laws actually did better. In Holland, the rate of use was 17.05 per cent and in Portugal 10.05 per cent.

With all the pot they smoke...and with the "psychotic episodes" and causes "most of the violent crime" that pot smoking supposedly causes...Canada ought to be the murder capital of the Western World.

Note: In rip snorting Drug Waring United States:

5. The United States

- 22.05 per cent of children aged 11, 13 and 15 report having used marijuana in the last year.

WTF?! more than twice that of lax on Drugs legalizing in all but name Portugal?! How can that be?

This would explain a lot

Participants in a study who had used the drug daily for around three years in their teens had an abnormally shaped hippocampus by the time they were in their early 20s.

He shoulda been drinking 100 proof. Kids that do that NEVER act stupid.

And for the sarcasm challenged:

http://psychcentral.com/news/2011/09/02/making-stupid-mistakes-when-drunk-heres-how/29128.html

New research on alcohol’s affect on brain activity helps to explain that age-old phenomenon: why people do stupid things when they are drunk.

University of Missouri researchers found alcohol dulls the brain signal that warns people when they are making a mistake, ultimately reducing self-control.

“When people make mistakes, activity in a part of the brain responsible for monitoring behavior increases, essentially sending an alarm signal to other parts of the brain indicating that something went wrong,” said researcher Bruce Bartholow, Ph.D.

“Our study isn’t the first to show that alcohol reduces this alarm signal, but contrary to previous studies, our study shows that alcohol doesn’t reduce your awareness of mistakes – it reduces how much you care about making those mistakes.”

People who drink alcohol just don't care.

You're equivocating. People who are drunk seldom jump out windows, while people who are stoned do so much more frequently, especially on college campuses. This is because Cannabis is an hallucinogen. When you drink too much alcohol, you fall asleep because it's a barbiturate or sedative. THC is an hallucinogen. It makes people think they can fly. Hence the trouble with each open window.

One thing I keep noticing is there is no mention about how the mixing of liqueur and pot is so may more times potent than one or the other. It is just unreasonable to believe that one would not occur without the other in our youth. I keep hearing the same old tune that he would do the same on (insert vice here).
After careful consideration I can not help but feel this is the old bread and circus routine made famous by the Romans.
In the end it is just another way to keep the populous happy and content while others feed off of the riches. I have never seen a smoker/ drinker keep with any cause very long always content to settle down when the check comes in and the libations to the masses start to flow.
Perhaps I am just a cynic but its starting to look that way to me.

Personally I think even with all the troubles alcohol causes, there is redeeming value in the way it can enhance celebrations in life. When treated as an exception rather than the daily rule, there is no trouble. Using alcohol to hide from troubles is however, no end of trouble. If there were no way to get this right, it would be very difficult to explain Jesus making wine at the wedding at the beginning of His ministry. Most theologians note that this would have been seen by the average man or woman of the time as proof of his power over time, since the thing that would automatically come to mind in their case would be that wine take a long time to make, and especially as stipulated in the text, Jesus made good wine. So just saying, even those followers most concerned with right behavior have always noted alcohol, for a celebration, seems to have a proper place. Drunkenness does not, nor does jumping out windows unless you happen to be a stuntman.

On a scale of 1 to 10 for hallucinogenic activity. 10 being ... acid where does pot rate? Alcohol ?

Please provide the definition of hallucinogenic activity you would use for the comparison.

Stubby, why are you poling the ignorant? Unless you're a pharmacologist or doctor who specializes in drugs, your opinion here means nothing. And BTW, posts where you dump the onus on someone else to do your homework, are posts for stupid people by stupid people and are insulting to the rest of us. Knock that shit off.

THC is an hallucinogen and alcohol is not. How strongly they act makes no difference. If you take THC, you should expect to have your moorings to reality loosened or broken because that is what the drug does. Alcohol does not do this.

The onus (aka burden of proof) is on the one making the claim. I am however not surprised you don't know this, self professed critical thinker you claim to be.

(I am also not surprised you dodged the question, since in the past, you have shown yourself to be irrational on this topic.)

YOU made the claim that THC is a hallucinogen. You also implied that it ranks equal to acid induced hallucinations with your babble about flying.
Do you have any source or data that backs up your implied claim that THC is as hallucinogenic as acid? (I acknowledge that THC can be considered hallucinogenic but so can alcohol)
And while you are doing that, how about that comparative ranking? Is THC a 5? a 10? Is THC like Spinal Tap's amp?

I hope you are not expecting us to just accept your word like some here would expect us to accept Rossi's word about his ECat?

Man up and present your evidence.

Good luck with that; on certain subjects he is only quasi reasonable (rational) at best:
