“Complex technology of any sort is an assault on human dignity. It would be little short of disastrous for us to discover a source of clean, cheap, abundant energy, because of what we might do with it.”
- Amory Lovins, Rocky Mountain Institute

“The prospect of cheap fusion energy is the worst thing that could happen to the planet.”
- Jeremy Rifkin, Greenhouse Crisis Foundation

“Giving society cheap, abundant energy would be the equivalent of giving an idiot child a machine gun.”
- Prof Paul Ehrlich, Stanford University

“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsiblity to bring that about?”
- Maurice Strong, founder of the UN Environment Programme

“The only hope for the world is to make sure there is not another United States. We can’t let other countries have the same number of cars, the amount of industrialization, we have in the US. We have to stop these Third World countries right where they are.”
- Michael Oppenheimer, Environmental Defense Fund

“Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control.”
- Professor Maurice King

“My three main goals would be to reduce human population to about 100 million worldwide, destroy the industrial infrastructure and see wilderness, with it’s full complement of species, returning throughout the world.”
-Dave Foreman, co-founder of Earth First!

So we have a bunch of people that want to commit genocide on a never before seen scale in order to "save the planet".
Absolutely stunning what mental excrements people with a universitary background can let loose and still keep their chairs. IMHO people that say stuff like that should be put into a mental institution... as inmates that is of course.

I notice that none of those people are poor, or from the third world. All of them are wealthy or established and comfortable, here in the US. All of them are as evil as Hitler or Mao, in that they have no empathy for anybody other than themselves and their own comfort. Sociopathy on massive scale that's already killed millions and prevented million more from even being born. They are also completely clueless about how our civilization works and what it will take in the future to keep it.

Jccarlton, we dont aggree on a lot of things usually, but on this one, I am totally on the same page with you and Msimon too.
Such people have to be called by what they are. Sociopaths and potential mass murderers, that promote genocide.

I didn't see attribution in those statements. Where did they come from? I would not be surprised if they were factual, but they could have been out of context. I think it would be good to verify and get context on each, because I fear we may need to work against them.

I can't imagine in what context these quotes would be anything other than what they appear to be.

I do aggree that context could be relevant. It would at least help us prepare a better counter strike :)

Huh... One of the only feasible ways I can think of to negotiate with these people would be bargaining (on the assumption that that's what it comes down to, for argument's sake) for a very successful development (e.g. as in Bussard's papers where colonization of Titan costs on the order of Apollo) of technology like Polywell to colonize into space. Also a good opportunity to get as far away from these people as possible.
I notice that none of those people are poor, or from the third world.
What a surprise.

What a surprise.
Really?
I felt that it was quite obvious that only someone who is totally decadent to the extent of neglecting the highest purpose of any living being can let shit out of the food disposal chute like they did. I cant believe that people are getting away with saying things like that. It is a perversion!

I'm in favor of promoting a movement for people who feel that way to terminate their own lives for the good of the environment.

I believe, in fact, that one exists. You don't hear about it much because it tends not to be a particularly popular movement.

The problem is pretty much self-correcting. Bad business plan.

No, not really Skipjack. Coming from a few years stint in the bowels of one of those places antipodal to wealth and comfort, it's a private satisfaction every time I see people here in north america realize this.

It's not just the genocidal, gaian nihilism. It's this:
Complex technology of any sort is an assault on human dignity
This is the worst. It's obscurantism and contrary to everything man is meant for.

total mushyheadedness

Maurice Strong:

From the Green Agenda:

I will note these people are in positions of power in the Administration here in the US or in the UN and other governments.

Would you support filing a complaint at the International Criminal Court against these persons and their groups for Attempted Genocide?

What is even more amusing/ironic/oxymoronic is these people call themselves "humanists", and they are the first ones to call their political opponents "racists".

Me? I guess I'm racist too. I'm 100% for the human race.
