As far as I am concerned as long as Polywell is seen as yet another crank fusion device its probably safe from the wrath of the Greens and the hammers of the fossil fuel folks. Once it works, well that's another story.

Once it works, if as projected, it'll be a matter of getting on the boat or being left behind. Only luddite fools would pull the NIMBY card. The third world will be all over it...

if it can be made to work, google would likely fund a power plant for the offshore server farms they've been talking about. Patri Friedman has been selling his colleagues there on his Seasteading concepts (note, Patri and his partner Sean Hastings were involved in Havenco in Sealand in the 90's).
