Calvi project's Vlasov solver

Post by ankovacs »

The largest effort of plasma simulation computer code that I am aware of is the Calvi project, done by some collaborating French research institutions.
Some results can be downloaded here:

I think it would help the polywell research effort a lot, if someone could build these into an easy-to-use live-cd, which supports also clustered processing. (google pelican hpc to see what I mean)

This requires some time, as apparently building this environment is not easy (at least I did not manage after some hours). You need to install some referenced tools first (hdf5, silo, szip, qt, ...). Although the installation instructions say that silo is optional, I found it to be required, in fact it seems that specifically silo version 4.6.1 with hdf build is needed for it to run.

Let's see who will manage to do the Vlasov simulation live CD...
