And that came as a surprise to anyone?!
I have said that for years. NIF= Defense project sold to the gullible public as an energy project. Total waste of money. They could and should have used that money to fund all (!) of the alternative fusion projects in the country to the point that they can proof they work (or not), maybe even further than that. Even the MIT ARC would have been a better choice and that is a Tokamak.
