Very nice work by Brian Wang to get those two EMC2 reviews published.

What amazes me about that NextBigFuture post is that it shows the Fusor vs. Elmore Tuck Watson machine art I knocked together years ago for an Analog article. I'm pleased that it is still considered good enough to illustrate the concepts, although Dr. Park's Wiffleball work discounts the importance of creating the potential well using essentially a "mag-grid" for electron acceleration in what is otherwise an Elmore Tuck Watson machine.

Dr Park has given a talk at Khon Kaen University in Thailand. This article http://www.prachatai.com/english/node/6089 contains the following nice EMC2 and WB-2 picture:

This article has been written after Parks talk: http://www.prachatai.com/english/node/6114.

I recognize Jaeyoung Park and Nicholas Krall. Who are the ones on the right?

Here is the abstract page for Parks talk Polywell Fusion - Electrostatic Fusion in a Magnetic Cusp in Thailand at the Khon Kaen University http://cola.kku.ac.th/main/news.php?id=413&lang=en. There are a few photographs from the event on that page.

Park also gave the talk Polywell Fusion - Electrostatic Fusion in a Magnetic Cusp in Copenhagen at the Niels Bohr Institute on the 10th of November 2015 https://indico.nbi.ku.dk/contributionDi ... confId=817. The presentation is found at this link https://indico.nbi.ku.dk/getFile.py/acc ... confId=817.

The one on the far right must be Mike Wray. Who's standing next to him?

Mike Skilicorn, I think, although the white hair is a rather dramatic change from how I remember him.

Two mikes are redundant, but do improve the chance of success.

My suggestion, when we added another Mike, was to start calling Mike Skilicorn "Skill". It fit him well. He's an excellent mechanical engineer, better at knowing how to get things built than I am.

Although I do still blame him just a little for losing a couple of small parts from the rip fence of my table saw. ;)

SJ, thank you for that link. Yes, I think that youtube video was of the original Emc2 - Microsoft presentation a long time ago. Looks like it was just posted???
Slides kindly posted by a youtube commenter (I think I already had them though):

"EMC2 plans to complete the final scientific proof of principle for the polywell technology around 2019-2020, using magnetic confinement to trap a plasma superheated to 50 million degrees. This will cost approximately 30 million USD, and EMC2 is presently seeking venture funding from entities such as venture capitalists, sovereign wealth funds, as well as support from academic institutions."

This is the same thing Bussard was saying in 2007. Man i wish so bad that wb7 didn't freakin vaporize itself. Was the government and the R&D industry unduly hard on Park & co? Is there anything to learn from this moving on forward?
