I am partial to the phrase, " What you say may be true, but it doesn't matter," when answering an objection. It is short and to the point. :D However, I like the computations everyone does here, right or wrong, as it helps my mind wrap around what is going on. Thanks to all for those efforts.

I found Ladajo's observation observation important that,
As for all the speculation, I would posit that there is more than likely more data that was not released in this initial paper from Dr. Park & Co
after all, there was no WB-8 data included in the paper, none, and a lot of work and data was accumulated that should dove tail into the Mini-B results, which none of us on the outside can speak to. In light of EMC2 discovery that popping the clutch is key, that jumping to beta = 1 is essential for wiffle ball formation, and cusp confinement, it leads immediately to the question could any further insight be gained from WB-8 with EMC2's current wimpy electron and ion guns? Only EMC2 can answer that yes, or no.

Still, tt would seem to me to be a no brainer to put in the required elephant guns for WB-8 and shine the light on what things look like in Technocolor, after all, that is some serious scaling changes to go from Mini-B to WB-8! In fact, I wonder if EMC2 can't just go to Joe's rent-a-gun and slap them on? Just kidding.

It will be interesting to see if EMC goes General Fusion's route of openness, or Tri-Alpha's route of staff up and shut up.

I think that there may be more papers in the works, each focusing on individual aspects of the experiments performed in the past years, maybe culminating in a final paper referencing the others for the proposal of a full polywell reactor.

Indeed. I'm not even sure I know what the interior looks like, nm I don't have the math to talk sensibly about what that interior would imply. Wasn't there a different electron/ion mix in this experiment than WB6?

The plasma mix was "pure" in WB6. Only injected electrons and deuterium gas/ plasma. In this machine the plasma ions was probably nearly equal parts of hydrogen and carbon with some tungsten thrown in. At least that is the simple answer. But, never forget though those pesky nubs of WB6 and their contributions. The electron mix in WB6 was injected high energy electrons and secondary electrons born at relatively low energies of ~ 100 eV (peak of hydrogen ionization cross section). Further heating of these cool electrons by the hot electrons, confinement times and interacting thermalization times are different. In this machine there were the relatively rare hot injected electrons, and the relatively profuse but only warm plasma gun electrons. Over the short time of the tests there may have been little thermalization between these two populations of electrons, otherwise how could a sufficient density of hot electrons (over 2000Ev) be maintained to generate the filtered x-ray signal?

Plasma Physics Seminar
ABSTRACT:
Abstract: 56 years ago, Harold Grad and his team at New Your University conjectured (and to some extent calculated) that the confinement properties of a magnetic cusp would be dramatically improved if the confined plasma had sufficiently high pressure to exclude the B-field from the interior. We have carried out an experiment that demonstrates, for the first time in 56 years, that this effect is real. This has dramatic implications for the future of cusp confined fusion.
So, this is the the plasma physics principle of the EMC2 paper that was proved, and how to get that condition was what they found out with Mini B. That would mean, given the general formulation of the cusp behavior proven, that this result is directly applicable to WB-8, and therefore WB-8 behavior should be predictable given previous characterization on the Navy project.

Back to waiting...although the waiting can't be too long as this project has to be moved down field, soon to keep the team together.

I think we can consider this the beginning of the press for further funding.
It would seem to be no accident that Jaeyoung Park is making some rounds.
I would expect that with the pre-print hung, the paper will soon be printed in a major like Nature or Physics.
I think he has something here worth moving on.
