Fusion the way they want to do it has been the most successful of all time. At some times a bit too successful like castle bravo.
Is scattering so bad that you can't make 13 KeV fuel ions and turn them into something over 1000 times more energetic without requiring the heat from the products to fuel the reaction. That seem rather unfortunate. A thousand fold process still needs the energy from the reaction to keep it going? Most unfortunate!
