Neutron Reflectors with a shielding gap. Don't you remember "Neutron Beaming" on boats? Or maybe they did not recognize that (in those terms) back in your day.

I do recall that. And I wasn't on a boat. I was on a ship. ;-) Some of the boats were bigger than my ship though. Esp. the boomers.

But that wasn't the question at hand.

It was how could you get a neutron beam directly from such a reactor.
