This would seem to increase the likelihood that the scant WB-6 results will be validated and extended, and that a serious (i.e. funded into eight or nine digits) attempt at a net power machine will be forthcoming.

Roger, linked your diary on the news at DW here:

My own post on the MSNBC story was here:

Yes, this is very encouraging news.

It's also nice to hear a bit about the team who's taken over the work, and to see the leader (R. A. Nebel) willing to post corrections and clarifications on news blogs. Yes, he's not out to make a splash, but he's not completely locked away either.

Can't wait to see what the next six months bring!

Joe,

I'm not sure if you are aware of it but Nebel and Park are the POPS boys. Very encouraging.

IMO we will see 10 digit funding from Congress. To speed this along. I think once this hits the headlines Americans will demand it.

Let me also add that Tall Dave, as well as you and Roger, have been relentless supporters.

That would really be something.

This certainly would scratch a lot of political itches if it looks viable. I can see major portions of both parties falling all over each other trying to throw money at it and get their names attached to it.

I should send something to Mark Kirk, our rep. This is a pretty competitive district, and he makes a serious effort to be responsive to constituents. Could get it on the aides' radar, anyway.

See what you think.

Any one else feel free to chime in.

I will post any good suggestions next week in a new post to keep the idea in front of people.

Hi guys great news on Wb7 ! I guess that means they have got a solid vacuum system down and some E guns or some form of ionisation up and running. I guess they are a little more advanced than i was expecting. I was reading the last WB6 tech report about how they used the B=1 condition, and sweeping the magnetic fields to calculate the plasma density in the core of the machine. Brilliant stuff, a great improvement on anything you could do with Langmuir Probes. I guess we would see a few more months of these tests to calibrate the machine before any D-T fusion starts taking place.

I'm coming to you from an ipod touch over a shaky pringles can WIFI hooked to a dial up connection in a flooded part of North Queensland. I hope you all had some wonderfull time off over the holidays and that your subconscious minds have been productive in beating out some fresh insight into future polywells.

Cant wait to get cadding up some fresh ideas

All the best !
