Mostly conventional reactor using thorium... I'd rather have a molten salt unit.

The news article on the Advanced Heavy Water Reactor (AHWR) seems indeed to have disappeared from India Today. There is however a lot of information about the AHWR on the net: This iTHEO news article contains links to the Thorium 2013 conference presentations, so it has a lot of details available on thorium activities in India: http://www.itheo.org/articles/world%E2% ... r-designed.

There is also a short Wikipedia article on it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_h ... er_reactor.

The AHWR has a page at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre http://www.barc.gov.in/reactor/ahwr.html.

Using thorium to extract even more oil sounds crazy indeed. The chinese have understood that they need something to replace their coal power plants with:

Sounds like a good enough place to start.

at first
I was MEH
But in further retrospect ,you right. A big bankroll to develop, if it is a competitive advantage the cat is out of the bag and everyone will want one. Over all cost will go down. To bad something like this could not happen for polywell.
