Lawn chair people outfitted with neutron detectors, sun umbrellas, and beer coolers will be setting up outside 9155 Brown Deer Rd.

No secrets......
Counting the days to commercial fusion. It is not that long now.

I doubt that you could keep something potentially world changing a secret for very long. Would you keep it to yourself, not even tell your wife, your children?
And then, once they have it working, they wont be able to use it, because that would mean that even more people would be involved. More people means more potential leaks...

So clearly the best thing for the US gov to do is to make it so the USA can maximize its advantage on the rest of the world for what would be such a game changer.

That would be to build an industry around it very quickly. So that others are always a step behind. You dont build an industry without people knowing about it.

Yes. The question is at which point does keeping it a "secret" gov project stop being worthwhile?

When it makes a big and loud BANG.
The good point is that at least we will know that it works.

Because all the Polywell fanboys (myself included) tend to lack the US $10's of millions of disposable investment capitol needed to build such a thing in our garage. If I had a Billion US$ sitting in my investment portfolio at the moment, I would be overjoyed to hire on the needed personnel and get whatever permits might be necessary, and start building... But I would also invest in Flibe Energy (to build thorium reactors), just in case the Polywell proves to be a dead end.

Since my disposable investment capitol is currently sufficient to do jack squat, I instead read blogs. :-)

Sorry by private I meant incognito, as the Navy's doing now.

Yes but the navy has a plan. And it would seem that polywell is part of it...

Not mentioned directly, but certainly a major potential enabler.

I doubt that they will release a report on a Sunday.
Monday, the 31st will be more likely. No?
